When the patient starts seizing, Chase orders to administer 10mg of benzodiazepine. Benzodiazepines are a class of drugs with many medications, not just one medication as Chase implies. He needed to be more specific for the type or benzodiazepine. For example, if the patient were administered 10mg of alprazolam (Xanax) or lorazepam (Ativan), that would be a largely inappropriate dose resulting in an overdose. If he were to administer 10mg of diazepam (Valium), that would be appropriate. See more
