- When a struggling comedian reluctantly returns home for the holidays, not only must she deal with her eccentric family, but she ultimately faces a life-changing decision about her special-needs brother.
- Michelle is a struggling comedian in Los Angeles who is lured home to Atlanta for the holidays under false pretenses. Her over-the-top sister Andrea claimed it was a family emergency, and while their doomsday prepping father and disabled brother Mark certainly stretch the definition of eccentric, it's tough to say if they're actually doing okay. But since she's already back home, she decides to make the best of it and ride it out even though that means plunging herself back into all her family drama, the exact thing she was trying to get away from by moving across the country. As they all prepare for a final Christmas together in their family home, Michelle struggles to redefine her relationships with her father and two siblings. She's been away for so long, everything has been on pause, and now they're picking up exactly where they left off, and all of the problems she was running away from are thrust back into her face. When the depth of her dad's unconventional lifestyle is brought into full focus, she has to face a life-changing decision about caring for her brother. Does she want to be the person she has become in Los Angeles, or is she ready to reinvent herself yet again? In the end this is a story about how it's possible to love your family even while they're simultaneously irritating you more than any other human on the planet is capable of. It's also a story about how the desire for success in "the real world" can drive us further away from the things that matter most.
