When professional athlete Jason Collins announced his homosexuality in April, the public instantly began acknowledging him as the first openly gay active NBA player. But to his twin brother, Jarron Collins, Jason's newly declared sexuality was a complete surprise that took a moment to get used to.

In this clip from their sit-down with Oprah for a special edition of "Oprah's Next Chapter," the Collins brothers open up about what happened when Jason told Jarron that he was gay. Jarron recalls, "[Jason] sat me down on a couch and said, 'Hey, Jarron, I've got to talk to you.'"

Jarron immediately sensed that the discussion was important. "We keep our relationship very, very light, but... he was serious in his tone and what he had to say," Jarron says in the clip. "It was very matter-of-fact. He said, 'Jarron, I'm gay.'"

That's when the shock set in. "I heard what he said, »

"So was there a releasing of the dream for you, of the idea that you'd had for your son, of who he would be walking down the aisle with?" Oprah asked. "Yes, yes it was," says Jason's father, Paul Collins. "I think any parent would have that for a child. Especially since you didn't know the child was gay. Oprah Winfrey will sit down with Jason Collins and his family for their first interview together since the NBA center came out as gay in Sports Illustrated's May 6 issue.

Collins and his twin brother, Jarron Collins, also an NBA player, will be joined by their parents, Portia and Paul Collins, as well as Jason's sister-in-law and his aunt, Teri Jackson. In his piece for Si, Collins describes coming out to Jackson, a San Francisco Superior Court judge, before any other member of his family.

"Her reaction surprised me," Collins writes. "'I've known you were gay for years,' she said. From that moment on I was comfortable in my own skin. In her presence I ignored my censor button for the first time. She gave me support. The relief I felt was a sweet release."

Collins is the first openly gay athlete in a major American professional sport.

Producer Mark Burnett's miniseries "The Bible" captivated more than 100 million people when it aired on the History Channel. The series was filled with dramatic moments, but perhaps the most poignant was the highly anticipated crucifixion scene. Diogo Morgado, the Portuguese actor who portrayed Jesus in "The Bible," opened up to Oprah in an episode of "Oprah's Next Chapter" about how powerful the crucifixion scene was for him -- even from the beginning of filming.

"I was haunted by that [crucifixion] scene," Morgado tells Oprah in the clip. "I was seeing that coming every second of the way."

The crucifixion scene took three days to film and triggered a stirring reaction from Morgado when he was lifted onto the cross. "On that cross, I can tell you I remember one thing," he says. "I saw all of my life just flashing in front of my eyes. It was this overwhelming feeling »

Watch: What Makes 'The Voice' So Successful? Mark Burnett Reveals The Secret

16 April 2013 7:58 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

In addition to producing the incredibly successful miniseries "The Bible," Mark Burnett is also the master behind reality singing competition "The Voice." Now in its fourth season, "The Voice" has become a stand-out sensation in the ratings on Monday and Tuesday nights, defying the common reality-tv formula of cat fights and shock value.

Burnett explains this phenomenon by citing the public's longing for more positive, uplifting television and suggesting that snarky shows may be behind us. "The nation is in a much kinder place," Burnett tells Oprah in this clip from "Oprah's Next Chapter." "['The Voice'] is kinder. There's no humiliation of anybody on 'The Voice.'"

This kinder reality-show format wasn't initially embraced by everyone, however. "Many people said when we started, 'Oh, people won't want to watch unless there [are] big fights,'" Burnett recalls. "It wasn't true. 'The Voice' has succeeded with kindness and just great talent. »

Watch: Jane Fonda Says Adopted Daughter Helped Her 'Become Whole'

15 April 2013 7:27 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

When Troy Garity was 12 years old, his mother, Jane Fonda, welcomed 14-year-old Mary Williams into their home. Garity's newly adopted African-American sister seemed to fit in seamlessly -- and Garity says he never thought twice about Williams' race or place within the family.

"I had an unorthodox childhood. There were people always in and out of our household, so I was used to change," Garity tells Oprah in this clip from "Oprah's Next Chapter." Though comfortable with variability, Garity cites the consistency of Fonda's camp, Laurel Springs, as one of the most important parts of his youth.

"That's where I met [Williams] -- and hundreds of other kids," Garity recalls. "I felt a camaraderie with them. I looked for things that I could have in common with people."

Garity says there was no formal discussion about Williams' adoption. "She just sort of came down [to live with us] and it was fine and happy »

Watch: Mark Burnett And Roma Downey Respond To Satan-Obama Controversy

12 April 2013 9:55 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

When producer Mark Burnett and his Emmy-nominated actress-wife Roma Downey created "The Bible" miniseries, they expected to hear from the critics. Though "The Bible" kept 100 million viewers glued to their TVs during its five-episode run on the History Channel, one specific criticism arose: Satan, some viewers charged, looked just like President Obama.

In this clip from "Oprah’s Next Chapter," Burnett and Downey address the 3/18/the-bible-satan-obama_n_2900509.html" target="_hplink">Satan-Obama controversy head-on. The claim shocked Downey. "I honestly was horrified," she says.

Downey hadn't expected public discussion about "The Bible" series to center on Satan at all; rather, she'd expected people to be talking about Jesus. "The night before that [Satan-Obama controversy] broke in the news, Jesus had made his first appearance on the screen," she tells Oprah in the clip. "And I was so looking forward to [the next day], knowing that Jesus would be on the lips of everyone... For Satan to »
