Why the PlayStation Vita is an underrated handheld

Sony's Vita may not have been the storming success it had hoped, but it's full of games waiting to be discovered, as Jake explains...

Sony's PlayStation Vita recently turned three years old in the west. Despite being comparable in strength to a PlayStation 3, it still lives in the shadow of Nintendo's 3Ds and numerous smart devices.

The initial high price of the hardware and memory storage, coupled with a lack of Aaa exclusives at its launch, put a dent in its sales which the Vita never really recovered from. Touted as a full console experience at the start, the Vita has since morphed into something a little more unusual and more interesting.

Although Sony have said there's little chance of any new major releases, there's a bit more to this system than a yearly Assassin's Creed title. Here, we take a look at the most compelling reasons to purchase a Vita!

Anne Rice, eat your heart out. Vampires moved back into New Orleans with CW TV show The Originals.

A spin-off from the popular The Vampire Diaries, which is based on the best-selling book series, The Originals is about what the name suggests: The original vampire family. They return to New Orleans, a city they help build, and the mayhem begins.

Created by Julie Plec (TV’s The Tomorrow People), The Originals stars Joseph Morgan (Armistice), Daniel Gillies (TV’s Saving Grace) and Phoebe Tonkin (Bait) from The Vampire Diaries. Charles Michael Davis (TV’s Grey’s Anatomy) and Leah Pipes (TV’s The Deep End) were in one episode of the earlier show but their roles have built into starring characters in The Originals.

Averaging nearly 3.1 million viewers, the fantasy TV show is the CW’s number 2 series among adults.

‘Constantine’ Trailer: NBC Finds Their Comic Book Adaptation, Finally

ABC has already gotten into the Marvel serialization game in a big way by bringing us their story of Agent Coulson magically coming back from the dead and manning his secret organization once again, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and now by picking up the 1940′s noir throwback starring the most badass lady spy on the planet to ever steal a supersoldier’s heart, Agent Carter. Fox will soon be joining the DC family with Gotham Babies Gotham, the prequel Batman series that chronicles Commissioner Gordon’s time working in the plagued city before gaining power and influence and a mustache. So it’s about damn time that NBC, that network that’s not doing too well right now, hops on the comic book train and starts adapting like, pronto. They recently announced that they’ve chosen to go DC (ride or die), and take on the story of one John Constantine (from the comic Hellblazer) with

Armistice (2014) Review

Armistice is an acquired taste for sure. I can easily imagine just as many detractors as supporters for this one and I get it. Its simply not going to work for someone who prefers a fastpaced film or a wide group of characters or explosive action scenes for that matter. However those who find it compelling to climb inside of a mans mind for the sole purpose of studying its inner workings Armistice is a clear hit. This shoestringer earns big points from me and the bulk of my praise goes in the direction of writerdirector Luke Massey (who wrote the story with Benjamin Read) and A.J. Budd who does a magnificent job of taking on the burden of holding up an entire film exclusively (on screen mind you). Kudos gents.

'Constantine' TV Series: Matt Ryan Is John Constantine!

'Constantine' TV Series: Matt Ryan Is John Constantine!
He's not Keanu Reeves! But he's not exactly Paul Bettany, either. While fans were hoping for a British actor to take the lead in NBC's Constantine Pilot, producers have instead settled on Welsh actor Matt Ryan.

Matt Ryan is best known for his voice work as Edward Kenway in the hugely popular video game Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. He has also starred on the TV series Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior and in the indie movies Armistice and Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. He is fairly unknown in the states.

The actor will play John Constantine, a role originated by American actor Keanu Reeves in the 2005 adaptation of the DC Comics series Hellblazer. While many fans scoffed at Keanu Reeves' dark haired, surfer-accented Californian take on the character, NBC is going back to the comic's roots, with a British character who doesn't stray too far from the original storyline.

NBC Taps Matt Ryan as the New Constantine

The lead role in NBC's "Constantine" reboot appears to have been found as reports are coming in that Matt Ryan (Armistice, "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior," "The Tudors") is finalizing an agreement with the network and Warner Bros. TV.

Per Deadline, Welsh actor Ryan will portray the DC Comics character John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending humanity against dark forces from beyond.

Constantine is described as a working-class Londoner with rakish good looks, scruffy blond hair, deadpan humor, and signature trench coat, who has been studying the dark arts since he was a teenager. When the daughter of a late friend is targeted by demons, Constantine steps in to save her.

The pilot was written by "The Mentalist" executive producer Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Man of Steel, "Da Vinci’s Demons"). Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers,

Joseph Morgan Talks Armistice, The Originals, and Being Klaus

Recently we caught up with "The Originals'" Joseph Morgan to talk a bit about his latest film, Armistice, as well as playing the anti-hero and of course the finer and favorite parts of portraying Klaus Mikaelson. Read on for the goods.

First, Morgan spoke about what attracted him to Armistice. "Working with the director, Luke Massey, was the main thing that attracted me to the project. I worked with him on a short film previously with Matt Ryan, who played the other role in Armistice. Luke was the director of photography, and it was just a great experience."

"Luke was very much into the same films as I was and the same comics and books so we geeked out a lot together. When he presented me with Armistice, which is his directorial debut, and then I met Ben [Read], who wrote the film with him, it just seemed like the

‘Armistice’ Teaser Promises Marine vs. Monster in a House Full of Horrors

After Drew Goddard‘s The Cabin in the Woods, the concept of a house carefully designed and rigged full of gruesome creatures doesn’t seem so farfetched anymore. The 2012 film crammed a group of stereotypes — the jock, the stoner, the promiscuous girl, etc. — in a secluded forest vacation home for a weekend filled with anything and everything you could think of that would make a horror movie tick. From a necronomicon, to a group of hillbilly zombies, to a murderous mermaid, there are horrors behind every corner. The intricacies of the cabin that these unlucky co-eds chose for their spring break are, as it turns out, being controlled by a secret worldwide organization running what’s both a gameshow and something far more sinister. Every move they’ve made and every monster they’ve encountered is planned and executed by an outside force looking in on their screams and pleas for help. Poor

But to the rest of the students and staff at the Dunsany College, baffled by the cloak of secrecy that surrounds the Department and its affairs, it has another, more dismissive, name: The Department of Monsterology. Funded by the mysterious Hampton Foundation, the Dept. operates several field teams that roam the globe on extended research expeditions.
