Friday updates: cast news, interviews & previews

This is the first part of the weekly round-up. The second one is coming tomorrow.

On the Box reports that Prisoners' Wives with Polly Walker has been picked up for a second season. Congrats to the cast and crew. Four new episodes will air next year.

And big congrats to Winston Rekert, who received the Sam Payne Lifetime Achievement Award today. The award is presented by the Union of B.C. Performers for accumulative outstanding body of work in the industry.

Patton Oswalt has a couple of TV appearances coming up. First, he will guest star in Bob's Burgers, episode "Moody Foodie," which airs on Sunday, May 6, at 8.30 pm on Fox. A week after that, he will be back in Two and a Half Men, in the season finale, titled "Oh Look! Al-Qaeda!" which airs on Monday, May 14 at 9 pm on CBS. Patton was on Conan last week. Dakota Johnson Cast As The Lead Of Fox Comedy Pilot ‘Ned Fox Is My Manny’
Exclusive: Dakota Johnson has landed the lead in Fox’s comedy pilot Ned Fox Is My Manny. The single-camera project centers on an uptight single mother (Johnson) whose aimless brother (Nat Faxon) moves in to help raise her daughter (Maggie Jones). Johnson replaces Saturday Night Live‘s Abby Elliott, who was originally cast in the role but was released after the table read. Interestingly, at 24, Elliott was considered young for the part (it was written as a 26-year-old), and Johnson is two years younger at 22, but I hear she impressed the producers with her audition. This marks the TV debut for Johnson, the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. Johnson has quickly been building a feature resume — she was in The Social Network and the Sundance comedy Goats, and she co-stars in the current box-office champ 21 Jump Street. Tuesday round-up: Blood & Chrome, Sanctuary, cast news, interviews with Jane Espenson, William B. Davis and Patton Oswalt

Okay, some updates.

It's Tuesday, so keep an eye on Beginning of Line. A new episode of Caprica season 2 goes up today.

There are a couple of things to check out on TV tonight. Patton Oswalt is on Conan at 11 pm on TBS, and on Chelsea Lately, also at 11 on E!

Deck the Halls with Luciana Carro and Hiro Kanagawa premieres at 9 pm on TNT. From the press release:
