Coming from a fan of mentalist, this episode is one of the worst if not the worst and most preposterous ever. Don't remember when was last that I saw SUCH drivel!!
I believe the show has established a certain standard of quality and the authors MUST stick to it to prevent it from turning into a joke or parody. Hopefully it was just a one-off, not a trend: I would hate to lose one of my favorite shows with such an excellent cast, but variably convincing scripts. Hence it would be advisable for the producers to think of reinforcing the group of scriptwriters to make the plots more intriguing but less predictable and whacky.
