Abattoir Rising (2012)
- Summaries (1)
This documentary gives an honest look at the people, processes, and issues surrounding humane slaughter and local meat farming. While a lot of attention has been given to the suffering of animals in industrial slaughterhouses, the problem of humane violations at smaller, local facilities has gone virtually unnoticed. Many people have the misconception that local will always mean more humane. While this is true for how the animals live freely on pasture, it is not always the case when it's time for them to die. We hope to create a catalyst for dialogue among vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores. But putting dietary ideologies aside, we can work together to make the treatment of these animals at the time of slaughter more humane.
