This episode is one of the best this show has to offer. Above reviews are upset about the "kid" getting killed at the end , but she's not a kid. They made that clear in this episode, May even says it. She's an adult and she made her choice to kill her father with an illegal firearm. Father was obviously a p.o.s. and needed to be shot and would of if May did not interfere. As soon as May raised her weapon the father desescalted and became the victim. Logic aside, this episode is emotionally strong and moves the story forward in an interesting way, with many consequences for our characters to deal with. Excellent episode.

The ending was tragic, but it was real. And, the music accompanying the death scene was beautifully done. There are select scenes of many series that stand out in my memory, and for Flashpoint, this is mine. I believe the song accompanying the ending credits was sung by Brooke Palsson who also played the part of the girl so tragically killed. She is primarily a Canadian songstress. Eh.

Regards, Gary in Sandy Eggo.

This episode is totally messed up. May was only trying to save her mother by shooting the dad b4 he killed the mom. They even referred to the murder/suicide aspect of these types of situations. May was in essence defending her mother and possibly herself from a deranged armed lunatic who was clearly out of control and a threat to everyone around him. He had been violent throughout this entire episode. He was a stalker, violent, wife beater and abuser and what happens? The police is essence Murder the Daughter. Wrong, wrong, wrong. If anyone is shot it s/b the father. This was a BAD shooting and the officers involved should be disciplined. I see a huge lawsuit against the police for wrongful death. And a terrible example of how useless our laws are for protecting innocent victims of domestic abuse. So now I guess the Dad is free to continue to stalk his ex and probably end up killing the Mom the next time anyway. Totally screwed up. Raf was right to want out

Spoilers!!! My wife and I sat in stunned silence for 15 minutes after this episode. SVU, heck, the movie 7 is feel good entertainment compared to this episode! The writers kill off an 18 year old, while the pos father lives. Really? I realize they want to, "Keep things real," but this is episoding TV. So many times in Flashpoint, they come to a peaceful resolution with real scumbags, but in this episode you kill off some kid? Horrible writing, and extremely depressing. They should be ashamed of this episode.

Odd outcome

I agree. Not every police situation ends up peachy. You know the princess doesn't always get the prince. the good guy doesn't always win. Really weird sequence of events. that they would shoot to kill the daughter. And also even bring the kid in the 1st place. they would never allow a civilian in2 that situation. Anyway clearly the writers wanted this 2 end up as an investigation and a huge discussion amongst the team about choices they make serving the law. So yeah good setup for that. I really don't believe in real scheme of things they would have shot to kill the kid. Again, I'm not into fake sugar coated endings. I prefer a reflection of real life. but that was just an odd story ending simply for sake of a dialogue about choices and judgment calls these people make every day on the job.
