24 September 2014 1:31 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Matthew Fox and Patrick Wilson have signed on to join Kurt Russell and Richard Jenkins in the indie Western Bone Tomahawk.

The story centers on a group of four men who set off on a rescue mission to save a group of captives from a tribe of cannibals who live on the edge of civilization. Patrick Wilson is playing a "thoughtful cowboy" whose life is interrupted by a tragedy, which hinders his rise to foreman in his cattle outfit. Matthew Fox is playing an unscrupulous gentleman with sinister plans.

S. Craig Zahler (The Brigands of Rattleborge, Air Guitar Nation) is directing from his own screenplay, with Caliber Media partners Dallas Sonnier and Jack Heller producing. They have also arranged financing through a deal with The Fyzz Facility's Wayne Marc Godfrey, Robert Jones and David Gilbery. No production schedule was given.

Film Review: ‘The Eternal Zero’

12 April 2014 11:19 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

A fictional account of a Japanese WWII pilot that features the most breathtaking images of aviation seen in an Asian war film since South Korea’s “Soar Into the Skies” (2010), “The Eternal Zero” marks another vfx victory for helmer Takashi Yamazaki, here surpassing the technical sorcery of his “Space Battleship Yamato” while delivering an elegantly crafted human drama. One of Japan’s 10 biggest hits of all time (having bagged $82.7 million to date), the eight-week B.O. champion cloaks its nationalistic message in an emotionally wrenching story that sweeps the viewer right along — but cops out in the finale, with a glorification of kamikaze missions that contradicts its initial criticism of blind patriotism. While Koreans and mainland Chinese may take issue with the film’s ideology, its crackling action scenes rep a selling point in other overseas markets, even if its mammoth length presents a challenge for theatrical release.

Lost star Matthew Fox heads back to World War II for his latest film, the historical drama Emperor.

Fox plays Bonner Fellers, a general who's sent to Japan to decide if Emperor Hirohito will be hanged for war crimes.

Starring alongside him is Eriko Hatsune as Aya Shimada, a woman Fellers romanced years earlier, and Tommy Lee Jones as legendary Us military figure General Douglas MacArthur.

Fox said that he was "really moved" by the script for Peter Webber's film, and found that the true life story was one worthy of big-screen treatment.

On working with Jones, the actor told Digital Spy: "Tommy came on at the very end of the shoot for the last two weeks.

"I think it served the film really well.

"I was the brigadier general up until the point the real general came along - MacArthur showed up.
