'Amityville: Awakening' Trailer Takes Bella Thorne on A Scary Ride

16 February 2016 5:59 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Way back in August 2014, Dimension Films released the first trailer for Amityville: The Awakening, which at the time, was scheduled to hit theaters on January 2, 2015. Just a month later, the studio yanked the film out of its release date, and we haven't heard anything about it since then. Today, The Weinstein Company has released yet another trailer, which features largely the same footage as the first teaser, with the movie now set for release on April 1. This thriller will be going up against Collide, God's Not Dead 2 and Rings.

Amityville: The Awakening is a revival of the popular franchise and a modern twist on the classic horror film. In the movie, Belle (Bella Thorne) and her family move into a new house, but when strange phenomena begin to occur, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn't telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house. »

Amityville: The Awakening Wants You to Like Its New Post-er

16 February 2016 5:27 PM, PST | Destroy the Brain | See recent Destroy the Brain news »

Wow, that was a cheesy headline, huh? I do what I can folks. I do what I can. You’ve probably known that there has been a new Amityville film coming down the pike. The trailer was released back in August of 2014 with an expected January 2, 2015 release. That date went by and we heard nothing. If you need a refresher, check out the trailer along with the poster below.

There’s no doubt that there are still fans of the franchise and the involvement of director Franck Khalfoun, who filmed Amityville: The Awakening after coming off the Maniac remake with Elijah Wood, might perk up some eyeballs. In addition, Blumhouse is involved in this new entry which is probably why it has shown up on some lists of anticipated horror films for 2016. Then again, I think fans of this genre know that everyone has to eat as well, and this »

Nostalgic First Trailer For Amityville: The Awakening Resurrects Dormant Horror

16 February 2016 2:48 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Pack your bags, folks, Amityville village is calling once more. In what will be the 13th installment in the genre-defining franchise, Dimension Films and Blumhouse Productions are primed to situate the infamous supernatural tale in the modern age with Amityville: The Awakening.

Written and directed by Franck Khalfoun (Maniac, P2), the feature hues close to tradition by setting up the story of an average family moving into a new home – but this isn’t just any home. Having played host to a series of violent murders in the mid-70s, Bella Thorne’s teenage girl soon begins to realize that there’s something amiss under her family’s new roof, and it all appears to center around her bed-ridden brother (Cameron Monaghan).

Cue supernatural activity and nightmarish apparitions, with the official logline describing The Awakening as so: “Belle and her family move into a new house, but when strange phenomena »

‘Amityville: The Awakening’ Gets an Effective Poster and Less-Than-Effective Trailer

16 February 2016 2:23 PM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Once set for a release over a year ago, it’s taking quite some time for The Weinstein Company to dump Amityville: The Awakening into theaters. Barring any future delays, the “revival” of the franchise will now arrive on April 1st, and while our hopes for it aren’t very high, Blumhouse has released an inventive new poster for the horror film.

Taking an note from their campaign for the single-screen horror Unfriended — which actually turned out to be great — the first effective poster utilizes the instantly recognizable Instagram frame as it teases the infamously villainous house. The Weinstein Company have also released the trailer, which is just the same one they let out of the gate early a few years back.

Directed by Franck Khalfoun (Maniac) and starring Jennifer Jason LeighBella Thorne, Cameron MonaghanThomas Mann, and Kurtwood Smith, check out the trailer and poster below.

Journey to ‘The Other Side of the Door’ in this new trailer

12 January 2016 2:11 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Film characters and rules historically don’t work well. This is especially true for the horror genre. Just think how much easier his life would’ve been had Billy paid attention to those three little mogwai rules in Gremlins. Similarly if Frank had never opened ‘the box’ Kirsty would have been spared the nightmares inflicted by those naughty cenobites. Well if the new trailer for upcoming The Other Side of the Door is anything to go by, it’s a horror trope that doesn’t seem to be going any time soon.

The Other Side of the Door stars The Walking Dead‘s Sarah Wayne Callies as a grieving mother who accidentally unleashes all manor of ghastly beings after trying to speak to her departed child. Failing to follow the simple rule to ‘not open the door’, the below trailer confirms that just like everyone else, Callies just can’t follow orders with disastrous results. »
