Did You Know?

The book Reese leafs through at Finch's place is 'The Ghost in the Machine' by Arthur Koestler. 'Ghost in the Machine' is a phrase coined by the Oxford philosopher Gilbert Ryle to describe René Descartes' mind-body dualism relationship. In the case of Person of Interest's arc plot, Koestler's book subtly hints that The Machine may be developing a soul, or already has. The soul is famously called 'Ghost in the Shell' in the Japanese manga and anime classic by Shirow Masamune.See more »
John Reese:Find this girl Paula. Address is on the back. Keep your eyes on her.
Detective Lionel Fusco:Paula Vasquez? Why?
John Reese:Don't want her ending up like the lady upstairs.
Detective Lionel Fusco:You think she might?
John Reese:I know she won't. Because you'll throw yourself in front of the bullet.
Detective Lionel Fusco:Funny guy.

An episode to keep you wanting more...!, 2 January 2012
Author: whatt12 from United States

POI just gets better and better...or maybe because I prefer character development over strictly procedural stories. This episode in particular had a lot of main character interactions.

The stand-alone story was as interesting as always, but the over-arching plot line is reeling me in! So little is known about the background of the main players, in particular Reese and Finch; the writers are wisely doling out their information very slowly.

In this episode we learn just a bit more about Reese, but only enough to wonder where the story line will go from here. Can't wait to see how the ending to this episode gets resolved!
