When nine-year-old Rob Cole felt the life force slipping from his mother's hand he could not foresee that this terrifying awareness of impending death was a gift that would lead him from the familiar life of 11th-century London to small villages throughout England and finally to the medical school at Ispahan. Though apprenticed to an itinerant barber surgeon, it is the dazzling surgery of a Jewish physician trained by the legendary Persian physician Avicenna that inspires him to accept his gift and to commit his life to healing by studying at Avicenna's school. Despite the ban on Christian students, Rob goes there, disguising himself as a Jew to gain admission. Gordon has written an adventurous and inspiring tale of a quest for medical knowledge pursued in a violent world full of superstition and prejudice. Written by Literary Guild alternate

Last years of Ibn Sina (Avicenna) were spent in the service of the Kakuyid ruler Muhammad ibn Rustam Dushmanziyar, also known by his surname Ala al-Dawla Muhammad. Muhammad was not defeated by Seljuq forces, but began constructing instead massive defensive walls around Isfahan which later saved it from these Turkmen nomads who sacked and plundered some places in west and central Iran in 1038/39, including the city of Hamadan. This is a fancy movie which tells lies about a real great person called Avicenna. This movie actually tarnishes Avicenna's reputation which is not fair at all!

This is a fancy story involved with the life of a real Persian person 'Avicenna' who was the greatest physician in all the world around thousand years ago. His books were taught around seven hundred years in medicine schools all around the world. In this movie, a character called 'Rob Cole' actually from nowhere comes and teaches great Avicenna and shows him that he should put away his religious believes and discover the inside of the human body and actually tarnishes his reputation while Avicenna was not religious at all and probably did not have these kinds of ridiculous limitations with his researches. Just like all the movies that Hollywood produces about Persian history ( e.g. 300) , this one is bullshit as well. When our country (Iran) currently does not have some real patriots who care about our history to make real historical movies based on documentaries, we will see more of these kinds of cheap and unrealistic movies which are produced by others and aim to destroy the reputation of Iran's history.

Maybe this fancy movie is good at special effects but it is a lie about a real great person.

I think that would be much much fair if they used a fancy character instead of Avicenna in this movie!!!
