'I'm Sorry': TV Review

11 July 2017 11:57 PM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter - TV News | See recent The Hollywood Reporter - TV News news »

Andrea Savage is a funny person, so it's nice to see her get her own show, I'm Sorry, which premieres Wednesday with back-to-back episodes on truTV.

Yep, it's on a channel (with Impractical Jokers, Those Who Can't and Adam Ruins Everything) that's not exactly lighting up the zeitgeist but, as we've seen elsewhere, there can be a tipping point for almost any channel out there. The trouble, as shows like Teachers on TV Land and Playing House on USA can testify, is that no matter how funny your show is and how many cool cameos you can muster, it doesn't »

Every 2017 4th of July TV Marathon, Ranked by Watchability

3 July 2017 1:22 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

And so we’ve arrived at an ultra-rare Tuesday national holiday in the States. For some, that means an extra-long holiday weekend. Others might be taking advantage of the day off by watching the Coney Island hot dog-eating contest and then departing from the living room for the remainder of the day.

But for those who will remain glued to the couch on this July 4th, the world of TV has once again provided a treasure trove of non-stop programming. By our count, 36 networks are devoting significant amounts of their Independence Day airtime to a single series. In the spirit of comprehensiveness and giving everyone an equal chance to join in on the fun, here’s a list of this year’s TV marathons, arranged by how well they’ll add to the quality of your holiday.

James Bond 25: five companies bidding for the rights

Simon Brew Apr 21, 2017

The theatrical rights to the next James Bond film are up to date: and they may give a clue to Daniel Craig's intentions.

Times are changing in the world of James Bond movies. Ever since Daniel Craig took on the role for the first time with Casino Royale, the movies have been theatrically distributed by Sony, with 20th Century Fox then in charge of the home entertainment releases.

But the theatrical deal between Eon and Sony expired after 2015’s Spectre, and as plans are put together for whatever James Bond 25 turns out to be, there’s the small matter of who is going to distribute the movie.

The financial incentive to do so reportedly isn’t too great. »

Warner Bros. Restructures U.K. TV Production Operation

13 February 2017 6:21 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Warner Bros. is restructuring and consolidating its U.K. television development and production operations by bringing together its five U.K. production companies with London-based Warner Bros. International Television Production.

The announcement, made Monday by president of Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, will see the CEOs of U.K. production outfits Wall to Wall, Twenty Twenty, Ricochet, Yalli and Renegade report directly to Ronald Goes, executive vice president of Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution.

Schlesinger said the move would offer the individual companies better access to the resources of the global production and distribution operations unit already based in London. It will see the companies work more closely with creative and business executives across the global group, designed to offer a more integrated strategic focus and greater ability for the companies to grow and broaden their local audiences while also creating more local versions of their shows around the globe.

How Can an Impractical Jokers Season 6 Even Exist?

10 February 2017 5:51 AM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Last night was the season 6 premiere of Impractical Jokers, a show that covers the lives of Joseph “Joe” Gatto, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn and Salvatore “Sal” Vulcano who get to hang out and torture each other for a living with mischievous challenges and prank punishments.  I’ve written about this show before when it was a novelty.  It essentially combines the elements of a hidden camera show with that of “real life.”   I always thought of it almost as a “live Jerky Boys.”  The brilliance of this show lies in the fact that it’s completely authentic.  The guys
