Ratings: ‘Sunday Night Football’ Hits 10-Week High; ‘Once Upon a Time’ Falls to Low

Ratings: ‘Sunday Night Football’ Hits 10-Week High; ‘Once Upon a Time’ Falls to Low
It was tough going for ABC’s top Sunday dramas “Once Upon a Time” and “Quantico” last night, as the former hit a low and the latter matched its as they returned after a week off and opposite the top-rated primetime NFL game of the television season.

Meanwhile, Nielsens for AMC’s “The Walking Dead” won’t be released until tomorrow, but last night’s fall finale averaged a 7.2 overnight household rating, up from a 7.0 the previous week. This should translate into roughly a 6.8 rating in adults 18-49, which would make it second for the night to “Sunday Night Football.”

In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, the Denver Broncos’ 30-24 overtime victory against the previously undefeated New England Patriots averaged a huge 16.2 household rating/26 share on NBC — a 10-week high for the “Sunday Night Football” and the second best Week 12 result of the NFL season in the 10-year history of the franchise.

TV Ratings: NBC's Broncos-Chiefs action holds off CBS' Sunday NFL overrun

  • Hitfix
TV Ratings: NBC's Broncos-Chiefs action holds off CBS' Sunday NFL overrun
Fast National ratings for Sunday, November 30, 2014. CBS started Sunday primetime with a burst of NFL overrun courtesy of a tight game between the Patriots and Packers, but NBC held on to win the night with its Sunday Night Football coverage from the Broncos and Chiefs. With the two big NFL games and the tail end of a holiday weekend, the rest of Sunday's numbers were low across-the-board, including series-worsts for "Mulaney" and "Resurrection." ABC's dramas and Fox's comedies were, in fact, weak across-the-board. On to the numbers... Among adults 18-49, NBC averaged a 5.4 rating for Sunday night, tops in the key demographic. CBS' 3.1 key demo rating was a distant second, but also far ahead of the 1.3 key demo rating for ABC and Fox's 1.0 key demo rating. Overall, NBC averaged an estimated 15.64 million viewers and a 9.3 rating/15 share for Sunday night, edging out the 15.34 million viewers and 9.2/14 for CBS. ABC was

NBA Action on Espn, ABC Comedy Repeats Top Christmas Night Ratings

NBA Action on Espn, ABC Comedy Repeats Top Christmas Night Ratings
Christmas is typically one of the quietest nights of the calendar year for entertainment programming, and last night’s results were true to form, with repeats of ABC’s “The Middle” and “Modern Family” leading the way among young adults.

It was actually a night of all repeats on the Big Four as well as CW. Espn was expected to win the night overall with its NBA action, as overnights suggest year-over-year gains.

In Nielsen’s metered-market overnights, Espn’s tripleheader of NBA action on Wednesday averaged a 2.3 household rating, up 10% from last year (2.1) and the best ever for the network. The Chicago-Brooklyn game at noon Et did a 2.3 rating, and was followed later in primetime by Houston-San Antonio (2.4) and Los Angeles Clippers-Golden State (2.3).

The day’s highest-rated game was the late-afternoon/early evening ABC contest between the NBA champion Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers, which did a 4.9 overnight household rating.

TV ratings: 'Modern Family' and 'Blue Bloods' lead a quiet Christmas night

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013

The country had better things to do on Christmas night than park itself in front of the TV, and ratings were unsurprisingly low across the board for the broadcast networks as they all aired full slates of repeats.

The night's top performers were "Blue Bloods" on CBS, which led the viewer race, and "The Middle" and "Modern Family" on ABC, which had the best 18-49 performance in primetime.

CBS averaged 4.6 million viewers and a 2.8 rating/5 share in households. NBC (3 million, 1.9/4) came in second, beating out ABC's 2.7 million viewers and 1.6/3. Fox (1.4 million, 0.9/2) finished fourth, and The CW (903,000, 0.5/1) trailed.

None of the broadcast nets made it to a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49. ABC led the way with a 0.9, followed by NBC at 0.7. CBS scored a 0.6, Fox a 0.4 and The CW a 0.3.

Wednesday hour by hour:

8 p.m.

CBS: "I Love Lucy Christmas Special" rerun (3.6 million, 2.1/4)

‘Voice,’ ‘Sing-Off’ Help NBC Dominate Its Rivals Monday

‘Voice,’ ‘Sing-Off’ Help NBC Dominate Its Rivals Monday
NBC is singing a happy tune as “The Voice” and “The Sing Off” helped the net dominate Monday’s ratings race, delivering roughly the same number of young adults as the next two closest broadcasters combined.

Espn figures to again win the night with its “Monday Night Football” matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions, which did a 9.7 overnight household rating. This should translate to something in the vicinity of 14 million viewers, and nearly a 5 demo rating.

Ratings for the Peacock programs could be adjusted a bit in the nationals, as the net’s preliminary averages include Ravens football action in Baltimore. But in the early results, the live final performances of “The Voice” averaged a 3.3 rating/8 share in adults 18-49 and 12.7 million viewers overall from 8 to 10 p.m., nearly in line with last week’s one-hour average and Monday’s No. 1 entertainment program in 18-49.

It’s likely,

TV ratings: 'The Voice' dips with final performances, 'Mike & Molly' grows Monday

Fast National ratings for Monday, Dec. 16, 2013

The final performances on "The Voice" carried NBC to a ratings win Monday, but the show will likely be down from last week (the network's Baltimore affiliate carried the "Monday Night Football" game) and off significantly from last fall's final performance episode. It did, however, help "The Sing-Off" score better ratings than its last few outings.

Elsewhere Monday, "Mike & Molly" grew by a couple tenths of a point in adults 18-49 on CBS and scored its biggest overall audience since its season premiere. "Hostages" ticked up as well. Fox's "Almost Human" was down vs. last week.

NBC brought in 11.1 million viewers and a 6.8 rating/11 share in households, pending updates for the local NFL telecast. CBS (6.9 million, 4.5/7) came in second. ABC (4.4 million, 2.8/4) currently sits in third, also pending updates for a local "Monday Night Football" broadcast in Detroit. Fox (3.9 million, 2.5/4) finished fourth, and The CW (1.1 million,
