Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi's Ambi Pictures will finance and produce a remake of Christopher Nolan's iconic, twist-laden film Memento. Writer/director Christopher Nolan adapted Memento from a short story by his brother Jonathan Nolan titled "Memento Mori", and the unusual, neo-noir psychological thriller took audiences by storm upon release in 2000 and has since achieved cult hit status with a fervent following. The film was a box office success and received numerous accolades, including Academy Award nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing.
Starring Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Joe Pantoliano, Memento was lauded for its nonlinear narrative structure and motifs of memory, perception, grief, and self-deception. Ambi took ownership of Memento remake rights when the company acquired the Exclusive Media Group film library, which housed Memento, as well as 400 additional critical hits, commercial blockbusters and cult favorites such as Begin Again, Cruel Intentions, Donnie Darko, »

Set to slay, it's called "What If," and as Consequence of Sound points out, it's a reworking of a Nichole Nordeman song. This version, of course, has been souped up to include reverb, the Purple One, and a bit of a duet with Hannah Welton (3rdEyeGirl drummer). What are you waiting for? Listen to them ask lots of rhetorical questions now:. »

Prince has reached the cultural status of "he can do whatever he damn well pleases." And one of those things will be a series of surprise shows with his band 3rdEyeGirl, billed as an American extension of the Hit and Run tour he did around Europe last year. He'll be kicking it off with an as-yet-undisclosed venue on March 14 in Louisville, Kentucky, which is where drummer Hannah Welton was born. Tickets go on sale March 9 on Live Nation. It's likely that the process for the rest of the tour dates will be similarly "spontaneous." So if you want to lose your mind like the celebrities at awards shows this year, just make sure you have a sturdy internet connection. »

Subscription video-on-demand service Stan expects to announce at least two more development deals with Australian producers in the next couple of months.
The platform co-owned by Nine Entertainment Co (NEC) and Fairfax Media sees Australian original content as a key point of differentiation with competitors Presto Movies/Presto TV and with Netflix, which is due to launch in Australia/New Zealand on March 28.
The number of Aussie projects it will commission will depend partly on its ability to raise finance from other sources including international broadcasters or co-producers.
.We have a fixed amount to spend so the key will be to find overseas partners for co-funding at an early stage,. Nick Forward, Stan.s director of content and product, tells If.
.That may mean more reliance on international cast or co-commissions with subscription VoD and premium cable players who make a lot of this sort of content..
