Marrying a Prince is no happy ending!
7 December 2014 | by (the Edge of the Cosmos) – See all my reviews

The main theme of this movie, its intention if you preferred, is to demystified the "and they lived happily ever after" ending of all fairy tales.

"She found her Prince." is a sentence we use metaphorically for a girl who found a good man who loves her and they will stay together no matter what, and raise a family, but in Grace Kelly's situation it wasn't a metaphor.

She did found an actual prince, but she was happy? Unfortunately an actual throne doesn't come without obligations. And in some cases it ask far more than that.

In this movie Nicole Kidman plays the late Grace Kelly, a movie star of global fame like herself.

As someone might suspect from the title the movie it's all about Grace and only for a short period during a France/Monaco crisis. You only get a hint about how Kelly met Prince Rainier the 3rd (who is played in a dry performance by Tim Roth) or her previously life and career. The movie also only suggests her tragic death. It shows only these couple of months suring the crisis.

Overall: Marrying a Prince is no happy ending! You have to do sacrifices. This movie makes sure that you understand that.
