Goofs
After they find the room in the house where Amy lost all her blood they smell bleach, which indicates that someone cleaned the room. They use Luminol to find the blood stains on the floor and walls. But if someone uses bleach to clean up blood, you would see smears from where they cleaned as Luminol reacts with bleach as well. But the Luminol shows no such smears, just the original blood stains. This would indicate that no cleaning was done.

Enough already with Megan's constant battling with her mother, the judge. We already have well established what that woman is like.
Well, Megan's ex- is finally ending his affair with her current boss. What it took to get to this part.
As for the central story here, any time an asp is involved in a killing, the situation becomes awkward at best. A story with the kind of dimensions presented here needed a better ending. A jilted ex-boyfriend putting a snake in the victim's bag? Come on now, one would know what to expect to happen. How can you call this a mere tragic prank?
What's with Office Baker? She is so hostile when she questions a suspect. It is as if she gets her claws in you.
