Pathetically pretentious
10 June 2015 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

Sure life doesn't give us all the answers, but unlike this film it's worth living for the ride.

Instead this was like watching a film school piece: beautiful score set to standard indie close ups, all designed to make you believe what you're watching carries some emotional weight. Unfortunately it doesn't, preferring to wallow in self-aggrandising smugness. I like films that ask the audience to do some work, but after an interesting beginning it got worse, as if riffing on it's own diluted concept of individuality.

Critics liked it because the Hollywood machine churns out such formulaic dribble nowadays but if this is the refreshing alternative, tie me down in front of 'Fast and Furious 27' any day...
