I saw this in the Shorts Program at Sundance and it was clearly outshone by every other film in the program. I'd like to see another film from the director, because this could've just been a fluke, but every aspect of this film was poorly done. The music was uncomfortable and strange in all the wrong ways, the acting was poor, the writing was plain awful (especially the opening scene), and the actual film that this was shot on had me feeling as though I were watching something from the History Channel. Same with the special effects. Compared to the other short films, I was confused as to how this made it in. After the showing the director made it sound like this was her first attempt at "magical realism", though this fit the genre only loosely, so I'd be interested to see something in a realm that she would consider a strength.
