Storyline

A fourteen-year-old girl flies from China to a small town in the United States. A fifty-five-year-old doctor picks her up with a beautifully handcrafted woodcarving of her name, "Lisa Wong". From the moment she takes his gift, the two of them are set to help the other with whatever they may need, desire, or fear. Lisa does not feel welcome in this new world, and her unwanted presence is made known by the town. It takes this older man, ambassador for Lisa's new neighbors, to see the brightness growing within her, but the goodly doctor may have something else in mind than just kindly treatment. What wages is a tug of war between ones innocent naiveté and the ideology of the old and wise. One way or another, Dr. Brinley will show Ms. Wong the light. Written by Nate Eggert
