Remote Island
kosmasp10 April 2013
I had the pleasure of watching this at the Fantasy Film Festival in Germany. Quite a few have compared the setting of it with the movie "Mindhunters". There are similarities of course, but this one goes for the horror stuff. You might not like what you see, if you're easily offended and/or you're not able to handle the sight of blood. But if that was true, you wouldn't watch the movie now would you?

Effects are good and the direction is decent too. The actors are doing a fine job playing characters that have their moments. Of course there will be stupid decisions, , but they are all making sense more or less. The movie is good fun overall!

Not all that eerie, to be honest...
paul_haakonsen27 July 2013
I sat down to watch "13 Eerie" without a single clue as to what it was about whatsoever. And as the movie started up, I thought it might be a crime thriller or something, and being the zombie aficionado that I am, imagine my surprise when the corpses started to wake up. It was just priceless.

Well, the thrill was short lived, because "13 Eerie" turned out to be really flat and very generic. And what really brought down the movie enjoyment was the fact that these zombies were able to run, even with their advanced decomposition. I am not particularly a fan of fast and agile zombies, but this here was just a bit too stupid. And to make matters worse, then the zombies were making these growling sounds that would put even the biggest and ferocious of lions to shame. It was so bad. Zombies should not, and I repeat not, be making such noises, it just becomes a spoof and a comedy on itself. But wait, it doesn't stop there, these zombies were breathing as well - you could clearly see the hot steam exhaling from their mouths against the cool night air. It was such a painful thing to witness, and such a rookie movie-making mistake to make.

Well, I am not even going to delve deep into the storyline, because there is very little to delve into. The story is essentially about a group of forensics students brought out to a remote location where they are to be tested under strenuous conditions, when the cadavers start to come to life. And that is it! End of story! Brendan Fehr and Brendan Fletcher actually did carry the movie quite well. But the other people on the cast list were going good jobs as well.

The zombies looked like something out of a 70's zombie movie, bad make-up and even worse design. However, that was more than made up for in the amounts of blood, gore and mutilation that was in the movie. And that is also one of the major reasons as to why this movie scores a 4 out of 10 rating.

"13 Eerie" is the type of movie that you watch once, and never ever make an attempt to watch again, because it just has nothing to offer or support a second watching in any way possible. The movie is linear, predictable, not even remotely scary and just trots ahead in a rather monotone pace.

13 Eerie weaves an eerie tale of zombie horror --^--6.3/10--^--
Thrill_KillZ2 April 2013
The undead genre can at times, really wear on one's patience with one failure after another. It's been quite a while since I've seen a zombie film where everything felt right, where the story was original and took the time to explain the origins of the outbreak and also had good overall camera and sound work for being a budget flick. Director Lowell Dean, in his first feature length film debut, has just pitched a no hitter. As a matter of fact this is the first review I've ever given to a film in this genre that I felt was nearly perfect, but please take into account I judge horror films against other horror films, zombie films against other zombie films and the budget always plays a key part in my overall opinion. When a group comes together and makes the absolute most out of every dollar they deserve recognition for it. I give every undead flick that surfaces a fighting chance, even if the budget is $5k, because I know from experience that eventually someone will get it right. It's a process comparable to rummaging through a dumpster full of unlabeled DVD's mixed with rotting food, but my love for indie films and "The power of Christ compels" me to trudge on.

The story consists of six forensic students that are transported to an abandoned prison island. They are totally cut off from the outside world so they can participate in a lifelike forensic examination of actual corpses placed strategically at specific "murder sites" by their instructor, who is also monitoring them by remote cameras & walkie-talkies. The eighth person in the group is the bus driver/cook whose pot smoking & incompetent nature leads to just enough mayhem to jump start the danger by fowling up the communications. The walkies start to fail right around the time when one of the groups has a hair raising find, a corpse that is clearly not supposed to be there.

The acting was on point, nothing wooden or over the top. I appreciated how the film generally avoided the poor decision making in the script, something this genre is plagued by. It was of course only made possible by the convincing writing of Christian Piers Betley. The manner in which the undead are presented is slow, but deliberate and very powerful, thick skinned and not easily put down. Some may criticize this as cheap, but it was extremely effective in my opinion. They used what little they had and managed to create very menacing characters, zombies that, believe it or not, had the ability to evoke some legitimate terror for once. Plus, with a seasoned cast with the likes Katharine Isabelle, Brendan Fehr, Brendan Fletcher, Nick Moran and Jesse Moss, zombie fans that don't require big budget effects can't go wrong here.

Hmmm another teen kick ass job
Brendanflynn59 April 2014
Now it is not the worst pile of cheap filmmaking in the world nor is the the best by a long shot. Why do film makers of zombie movies insist on making the people in it do stupid things no normal person would do. This is what annoys me most about movies like this. They insist on not taking any cars out and they came on a boat but never think of getting out on it. They constantly run into dark old flimsy buildings. Shoot them in the head one of the girls explained. Next scene guy shoots zombie in shoulder. Doh! I am writing a zombie movie as a book at the moment and am eliminating the idiot plots most movies have. Anyone who directs and wants to work on a decent storyline. Give me a bell. B

Stay away from this movie
Shinobi-vs-Gast5 April 2013
I don't write that many reviews, but I just wanted to warn you guys if you're planning to see this movie.

Albeit the cast including the lovely Katharine Isabelle, Brendan Fehr and Brendan Fletcher are doing a decent job. The low budget doesn't help this movie, it just looks so cheap. And seriously since when do zombies run, besides that the make-up used for the zombies looks really cheap. Maybe that's the reason why it suddenly looks so dark when the camera zooms in on them, probably to mask the poor make-up.

And don't even let me start about the ending, the scene just gets cut off out of the sudden like they had no more money. Probably for a sequel, but I for one won't burn myself again with this garbage.

How do you best help zombies eat humans in an area called "13 Eerie"? Answers follow.
fedor826 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
1. You make sure someone is clumsy enough to accidentally spill a black acidic liquid on all the cables and walkie-talkies so that the humans can't be in communication with each other once the poop hits the fan.

2. Make sure that when the equipment does work, it works only when there's no danger.

3. Make sure that when the equipment does resume working after it's been fixed, only the ex-con (whom everyone treats like a child and whom nobody believes a word he says) gets to see a zombie on the TV monitor.

4. You make sure that all the forensic-science students are imbeciles who treat each other as imbeciles hence don't ever take each other seriously when any of them show any concern for their safety - and this despite the group being in the middle of nowhere on a forest island where unpredictable things CAN happen (as even any small child knows).

5. You make sure the zombies all learned their walking and sneaking techniques at the military zombie boot-camp so they can sneak up on humans who only spot the zombie when he's just a meter away from them - or already gnawing at their leg or arm. The zombies don't even have to try to sneak up: they're just given that gift by default - because the writer had to resort to weak plot-devices because he couldn't think of a smart or logical way of endangering the humans.

6. You make sure the professor treats his students as utter imbeciles, so that when a female student informs him that she saw a 4th corpse - when there are only supposed to be three - he reacts with "impossible!", dismissively ignoring her factual statement and both of them going on with the work as though she had never noticed anything. Did he consider this to be a hallucination? He trusts his students so little, that he can't even believe their ability to identify a corpse. (They're forensic students even, just keep that in mind though.) I seriously doubt real forensic professors and students are anywhere nearly as childish and stupid as that.

7. Make sure that the students reciprocate the professor's lack of respect in their intelligence by not showing any respect or trust in the professor, which allows the students to draw conclusions as idiotic as "the professor must have tinkered with the corpse do mess with us". By "tinkered" they mean pull out all its innards outside while they're were away. Yes, that's what forensic professors do on field trips: they goof off.

8. Make sure the professor is so delusional, arrogant - as well as stupid - that when a student tells him that he heard screaming in the woods the professor ignores him: despite several people missing already. (I see potential for a sketch there: "Screams? Extra corpses? Come on, stop talking nonsense. You're all dummies and I hate you and nothing you say makes any sense."

9. Just make sure everyone is an imbecile, alright? Except the zombies, who are supposedly really dumb but somehow outwit the humans most of the time.

10. Make sure that a zombie - when walking slowly - is faster than a student who's running. Make sure your zombie can catch a running human even if he crawls on all four, let alone walks slowly.

11. Make sure that the humans behave even more stupidly once they finally realize they're under attack. For example, allow one of the students to ATTACK the ex-con after the ex-con tells him that they're all under attack. Makes sense, right? It's sort of like a policeman telling you there's a serial killer on the loose, and you react by punching the policeman for telling you that.

12. Make sure the humans are so incompetent that they wound each other in some classic "friendly fire" nonsense. Katherine Isabelle (looking hot as always) wounds her boyfriend in the back in a very idiotic scene.

13. Make sure the humans can't figure out that it's the head they need to shoot or destroy - even when they'd already figured it out! Isabelle says "if I become one of them, shoot me in the head", but an hour later she can't seem to hit the head even from very close range. We can't quite figure out: is she an imbecile or is she just such a lousy shot that she can't hit a huge zombie cranium from a meter's distance, shot after shot?

It's also interesting that the movie suggests that being a forensic student means that your accommodations consist of a bed with animal carcasses lying on it. So medical students are immune to extreme lack of hygiene?

And must the zombies pose? Whenever a zombie has ample time (or he thinks he does) to attack and kill a human, he sort of poses for a few seconds, growls in a show-off kind of way, almost does a rap pose, and THEN attacks. Why do we have to even have zombies be so self-aware these days? Will zombies start becoming hipsters too? Will they start releasing rap albums? Reading beatnik "poetry"? Wearing funny hats?

There's plenty of stupid stuff in this zombie flick, but it's watchable, not least of all because Katherine Isabelle isn't just anyone. Yes, she's a nepotist, but she's a very sexy nepotist, a rarity.

I love any horror movie and this is my first review on IMDb. The film starts off good, with an eerie atmosphere and looks promising. That's as good as it gets really. The acting isn't awful but isn't the best. Admittedly I would have given this a higher rating had it not been for the awful ending

Other Review are LIes movie sucks
hudsonda413 September 2014
First off, I love horror movies and especially the zombie genre. It's probably my favorite sub genre of horror and I would rather watch it than anything else. Just needed to tell you that so you could understand just how horrible this movie is.

This movie is beyond horrible. The 'zombies' are done terribly. The second one you see has perfect movie actor teeth. The 'authority figure that won't listen' is overdone so much that it's completely unbelievable.

The acting? It wasn't what i would cal the worst I've ever seen in any C movie, until it got to the first death scene, at which point it won first place for laughably bad acting of any movie ever.

The premise behind the zombies? I have no idea because I made it exactly 31 min 57 seconds into the movie before i had to turn it off.

Don't subject yourself to this garbage.

Hmmm...
fil-nik0930 April 2015
OK, so this is not totally totally bad and awful to get one as rating... But I also think that three would be too much...So, this gets two from me.

This is a horror movie about zombies. Or some creatures that should be zombies but they are ... whatever. Whatever is the word to describe the 'costumes' and effects. Really not convincing. Not scary at all. It has some gruesome moments but they are poorly done.

The acting is that of a high school drama meets wannabe horror actors. Very bad. No one is really convincing. And the girl which found her new best hobby - killing zombies and walking around with a gun is rather silly. The professor of those students is no comment. But I guess, it is worth watching only if you plan one day to film a horror movie to see what things ( and they are plenty!) not to do.

Cheap effects of smoke are laughable. Michael Jackson Thriller's kinda bumping into houses throughout the floor is silly. Night haunting with surprising lights in the bus is funny. So many things are just awfully done.

Forensic students A.K.A "the main course" arrive on a crappy island.
Someguysomwhere4 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Solid zombie flick about a bunch of forensic students who arrive on some god-forsaken island that used to have a penitentiary and was also a site for bizarre government experiments. Their instructor is a no-nonsense guy who is a bit stuck-up and arrogant. He has placed bodies (borrowed from a morgue) at different locations on the island that are called "sites". The students are paired up and assigned a site where their forensic skills will be tested and scored by their instructor who is watching live video from cameras strategically placed at each site. The handy-man, a former convict, and the one who delivered the students to the island is the first to suspect something was up though no one would believe him (Hey, what is a horror movie without the nay-sayers?).

There you go, folks. The framework for this decent zombie offering. And now (if you care) some personal insights:

I gotta say, some of these zombies really know how to hustle for a meal and so are "a little more spry" than the classic shamblers and shufflers but nowhere near as fast as in some adapted zombie movies that I've seen and no doubt you've seen also if you frequent horror movies as I do. As well, the fact that panicky people often screw up while trying to get away is a big bonus for the undead.

In closing, I recommend this movie though it is not immune to people doing things that you the viewer might believe was not very smart. It's somewhat gory and disgusting in some places so I also recommend you take your squeamish girlfriend or boyfriend and I guarantee hand-holding action, head-on-shoulder --or somewhere-else action-- and quite a few "eeewws!" which, by the way, sounds better coming from a girl. Love, Boloxxxi.

13 Eerie (2013): The Good, the Bad and Recycled Zombies

Synopsis: Six forensic science students go to an abandoned prison facility for field work. Little do they know that the facility was used to test hazardous chemicals on the death row inmates.

The Good: It's always best when you don't expect much from a movie. I've had this one in my collection for a while, but always passed it by because nothing really stuck out about it. The concept didn't seem all that appealing, none of the actors or actresses are well known (which isn't a big deal in horror), cover art was pretty "meh"... I just felt like the movie was going to let me down. Having finally watched it, I'll say that I was moderately impressed. Now don't get me wrong, I rated it a 4 of 10, so that has more to do with lowered expectations than anything else, but still, there were some things to like about this movie. Aside from one or two actors, I thought this was a bright spot for the movie. Typically, you have to suffer through the acting and focus on plot and gore, but this group did a nice job with the dialogue given. Speaking of gore, the effects crew on this movie did a pretty darn good job. The budget was $3MM CAD, which is higher than I expected, but I still felt there was the appropriate amount of gore for a zombie film and it was well done. None of that cheesy CGI gore either. Good old fashioned practical effects and there wasn't any skimping on the kill shots. This is a very watchable film, it just suffers from not being much different from a million others. Which takes us to the bad....

The Bad: While it wasn't really boring or a waste of time, there really wasn't anything to set it apart from other same-genre comparisons. We've seen it before and we've seen it done better. Even though toxic waste is the catalyst to the carnage, this is simply another zombie movie. Are there subtle differences? Sure. But at it's core, it's just another addition to the mind-numbing obsession with the zombie genre as of late. Honestly, it's hard to find any good zombie movies anymore because they are being churned out faster than we can digest them and the cookie-cutter mold is getting super stale. Maybe that's why I wasn't as hard on this film as I could be, because it was certainly watchable, low-budget horror. Those things are almost mutually exclusive in this day and age. Still, I am almost inclined to say "Nothing to see here, people. Move along."

The Recycled Zombies: One of my pet peeves is recycling something in a movie because of cheapness. It is just so distracting. I get that you only have so much money and sometimes you have to make due. On this movie, I was able to look past the set location, which is quite minimal and all within a very condensed location. It all kind of looks the same. They are either in the bus, in the woods or in one of a few shacks that all look the same. I can look past that. What was very hard to look past is the fact that I think they were recycling the zombies. I'm sure it was tough to get all the make-up effects looking great... and they did look pretty great, but when one of them dies, the next one that comes around looks strangely familiar. Maybe the ripped prison garb is slightly ripped in a different spot or the zombie is shirtless this time or whatever, but by the time they show up for the sixth or seventh time, you start to get wise to the charade. I feel cheapened as a viewer. Like, "Did you really think I wasn't going to notice that this is the same zombie that you just killed ten minutes ago?" There's not a worse crime as a director than taking your audience for a bunch of blind morons. I suppose there is a chance that I AM a blind moron and the zombies were just really similar, but I think I'll listen to my gut on this one.

A good zombie movie. Worth a look in my opinion.
Michael-Hallows-Eve8 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is about a group of people who go to an island to do some scientific research on cadavers to try and get two spots as undergrads to a well known Professor. This was a pretty good zombie movie. The zombies weren't your normal slow walkers, and they were smarter than your normal Romero zombies. It starred Katharine Isabelle (from Ginger Snaps and recently American Mary), and she was very good in this as well (but I'm a sucker for her). The story was very good (in my opinion) and the movie moves along at a good pace. The blood and gore are top notch, some cringe worthy moments. I went in to this thinking it would be average after reading some reviews but yet again I was pleasantly surprised. It was a great movie to watch, I felt satisfied after seeing it, and it will be one that I could see again with no hesitation. Some may not like it, but I did. So I give it a solid 8 out of 10.

A Solid Six
arfdawg-115 November 2014
Six forensic undergrads embark on a scientific expedition to a remote island that was once used as illegal biological testing grounds for life-term prisoners.

This movie is WAYYYY better than some of the reviews suggests.

Yes, the undead are sort of cheesie.

And yes, it's a flawed film that sometimes borders on totally unbelievable.

But's really a decent concept and a lot of it is unexpectedly good.

Plus it's got a great surprise ending.

Wait for it!

I think think this was a solid six.

Watch it and judge for yourself!

Minimal eeriness
TheLittleSongbird26 August 2018
Regarding '13 Eerie', that it was low-budget, which from frequent personal experience is rarely a good sign due to that there are so many poor ones out there (though there are decent to good ones as well), made me apprehensive, as well as that there are more bad zombie films than good ones. Did like the idea though and the cover gave the impression it would be fun and creepy.

'13 Eerie' is sadly however yet another film seen recently, hence some reiteration because the exact same strengths and flaws present in those films are here, that to me was incredibly disappointing considering its potential which it doesn't do anywhere near enough with. It is weak despite a promising start, with so many huge flaws and doesn't do anywhere near enough with its potential, which was quite a good deal. There is hardly anything good here, just amateur hour for most of the film

What stops '13 Eerie' from being unwatchable is the first 20-30 minutes or so, very promising, does maintain intrigue and actually does live up to the title.

Katherine Isabelle also tries hard and carries the film quite well.

Unfortunately, '13 Eerie' falls completely downhill once the zombies appear, and the rest of the film is a complete and utter mess.

Going on to the negatives, the story does feel over-stretched and some of it comes over as vague and under-explained in the last third where the film especially became duller, more predictable, more senseless and less unsettled and never gaining momentum. All the characters are too sketchy and with cardboard thin and colourless personalities and with nowhere near enough to make one want to endear to them. Their annoying and illogical decision making and behaviours frustrates. The chemistry is bland and unfocused.

The sound quality is obvious and utilised cheaply (being too loud in the build ups and people's reactions) and all of the acting is lacking severely on the whole excepting Isabelle, that's actually an understatement as the worst of it is horrendous. There is no sense of horror or engagement with the awful predicament they're in, and no connecting with the character, it just reeks of indifference which makes the viewer not care less too.

Dialogue can be stilted and rambling while the pace and film drags on forever after the promising first twenty minutes, interest is lost fast. The ending has no build-up and just ends ridiculously and anti-climactically. Found too many of the supposedly shocking moments not surprising or scary and the atmosphere dreary, due to the excessive obviousness, a lot of dumb and vague moments and explanations and the lack of tension and suspense. Thrills are few, thanks to stodginess and excessive over-familiarity, and found myself never invested in the drama, which tended to be indifferently acted, interminably paced and statically directed.

A lot of '13 Eerie' has really dull and going nowhere plot elements and often nonsensical and confusing character motivations, while too many of the things to make you shocked are far from creative or unsettling. It all feels rather mean-spirited. The zombies are as far away from intimidating or creepy as you can get, the unintentional goofiness of their appearance is where the problem start, followed by the lack of personality, how poorly used they are and how severely lacking the zombie action is.

Very little freaky or interesting, no development and too derivative, while everything once the zombies appear is unimaginative and are more odd than scary, completely failing to show any sense of dread. There is very little interesting or illuminating with what the film was trying to do and the drama is overwrought, the zombie action has no guts or adrenaline and basically just lumbers along. Some badly sagging momentum too and a lot of weirdness. The direction is leaden, got the sense their heart was not in it and it lumbers just as much as the zombies, and the music is ill-fitting. '13 Eerie' is very amateurish visually, making one feel nauseous and actually did feel a headache coming on. It is haphazardly edited and the zombies look awful.

Overall, eeriness is sadly minimal. Started off well, felt like a different film once the zombies were introduced and it stayed that way until the end. 3/10 Bethany Cox

They must have spent the budget on hiring Katharine Isabelle
ihearthorrorfilm7 April 2013
I'm always looking forward to seeing a horror film that stars Katharine Isabelle. You will recognize her if you've seen Ginger Snaps and/or American Mary. So I was really looking forward to watch 13 Eerie. Unfortunately, there's not much to see in 13 Eerie. SIDENOTE: If you've read my reviews in the past, you know how much I hate the skeptical character in films. It's that character that needs convincing through the whole first half of the film. Ugh, its such a slap in the face to the audience. It was fine for horror films to have that character decades ago, but it's 2013 now. Filmmakers need to take in consideration how desensitized their audiences is to horror story lines. We know scary things happen, that's why we watch horror… we want our characters to know that too! Get with the program horror movie characters, scary sh*t happens… just accept that and start running! In 13 Eerie, there is way too much skepticism in the first half of the movie. It really brings the pace of the movie down. Once you get passed being annoyed by all the doubting, then you realize this is your basic "Night of the Living Dead" style zombie film, only it takes place around an abandoned where death row convicts rise from the grounds. There is honestly nothing special in 13 Eerie you haven't already seen if you've been watching zombie movies in this century. I'd say that the only interesting component is Katharine's character. She plays her usual bad-ass, heroine character. I also really liked the bus scene where they try to get away. That was pretty entertaining and the ending was as well. Overall, not too much to get excited about, but entertaining enough to give it a shot. Long story short: don't pay more than a dollar to rent or just wait for a streaming release.

This movie was great, although probably not a big budget, it was hell of a lot better than some of the things I have watched of late. This is 50 times better than Purge, and some other zombie movies of late, just hope there is a second.

I thought the cast was good, the gore was good, and I did not mind the story at all.

Overall I give it a 9/10, which is a big call.

Was nice to see they named Michael Shanks Daniel like in Stargate.

I would recommend this to any zombie movie fan.

It was also good to see they did not use complete nobody's for the cast also.

A lot of you will probably dislike the movie, but as I said I liked it.

Are you kidding me?
gregormitchell12 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I had to check the movie title twice because I can't believe you folks watched the same film? I came to look at the reviews expecting a slag fest.

I realize a lot of hard work went into this film and the first half hour I was hooked.

But then...

The first girl dies while running away from a Zombie, not through the clear path which she's taken several times, but through the brush. we are supposed to believe that she gets so caught up in the thorns that her hands are held and she is rendered helpless as the zombie chows down on her. The kicker was that a thorn pokes her in the eye as she's already lost fingers to the zombie. I don't know if that was meant to be humorous but it made me laugh in disbelief.

I started to get the feeling that each character would find a silly way to get compromised and become fodder for the zombies, which in a sense was the case Except for the main heroin who kicked butt, that and the decent acting were the only saving graces for this movie in my opinion.

wandernn1-81-6832749 June 2020
Okay so a forensic class is being conducted at 13 Eerie which is some remote location in the swamp apparently.

-1 Star for the Premise, really? forensic team procedural class becomes ow I get eaten by zombies movie???

-1 Star for the chick who got her neck bit out and a big scene being gnawed on and she's still walking around? so she can find a living being to die next to and let me guess? become a zombie? oh dear

-1 Star for the ridiculous 'non-ending'

Really this movie is a giant pile of dung. I would be embarrassed to have my name credited with it! Thank God I don't!!!!

Don't waste you time on this movie, thank me later.
jens-petter-9512 November 2014
I don't use to write reviews, but when I do it is to advise people from horrible movies.

It was okay, until the "zombies" appeared, there all went downhill... It was just so terrible done, I was just bored instead of frightened. Maybe the movie would be fun to laugh at if you watch it with friends, but alone, the movie just managed to be annoying and boring.

The acting was alright I guess, well until they faced the "zombies".

Save yourself, this movie it is horribly done, maybe that's why it got in the category "horror".

My tax dollars hard at work.

Warning: Spoilers
As a Canadian, I am so sick and tired of my government dropping huge amounts of money to fund terrible, cookie cutter movies.

This is no exception. The only thing I found of quality about this was the camera work. It was centred and in focus.

In an age where zombie movies have been done to death, some epic con artist found a way to convince my government to put out the funds to create this piece of crap. We have starving people in Canada, yet vast amounts of money get dumped into something this bad. And it happens every day.

This movie is terrible. Plain and simple. I will not waste any more of my time typing. It is obvious that people involved in the movie, in some way, tried to load it with high praise. The movie is low end, low budget, and simply awful.

Decently made zombie flick

Warning: Spoilers
Originally I came to watch this film because of Katherine Isabelle, because as one of the modern day Scream queens, she participated in a broad range of different types of horror films and despite it's poor reviews I really did quite enjoy watching this film. I thought the make-up and overall design of the zombies was applied well Ave unique amongst other depiction of the undead. I believe that the actors did decent jobs as wannabe, pretentious pathologists but also selling the absolute terror and fright when the film reached it's more horrific turns. The ending did, however, let it down; it was almost as of they ran out of money and they then didn't have enough time to round the ending off this settling for a jump scare and a freeze frame.

It made me laugh at least

This is so cheesy awful. Really really bad all Around , in a light night Friday evening comedy duo shows these flicks kind of way.

I could see big chuck and little John playing them ( it's a Cleveland thing ) they'd find these cheesy AWFUL funny " Scary" movies and play them with comedy skits during breaks

The death scenes are ridiculous. The plot is stupid. The acting is terrible. The zombies were hilarious.

That about sums it up.

If you want to get high and laugh at a terrible " horror " flick , this just might work for you

A Hidden Jem

Warning: Spoilers
I was really surprised by how good this movie is. You can tell that it is low budget because the special effects aren't up to par with big budget zombie movies, but it is still really entertaining.

The one thing that I really liked about this movie is that the zombies aren't the easy-to-kill type found in most zombie movies. These zombies are vicious, they can run and they are hard to kill; and this makes the movie a lot more intense.

It was also nice to see Brendan Fletcher who was the main actor in Rampage, and Katharine Isabelle who played in American Mary - another great horror flick.

A surprisingly good zombie film (Mild Spoilers)

Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't too sure what to expect with this film, i went on the DVD cover to be honest and it was in the horror section. I glossed over the actors and didn't realise who they were until i started to watch the film.

So about the film, the film is enjoyable and i was impressed with the effects the zombies are scary and the gore was enough to keep me entertained.

The plot revolves around a group of forensic students out in the field with a cranky prof (Micheal Shanks) who has set out 3 bodies for them to be assessed on except there is a fourth body out there and its undead.

Slowly the zombie starts to chew its way through the cast and in turn give them the undead bug and the survivors have to fight their way out of the forensic field to safety.

I thought that the film would have been made better if we knew more of the background to the whole how the undead came to be, instead we have a rushed conversation at the end of the film. It didn't stop me form enjoying it as a whole but it felt like it was missing something maybe more of a sinister backdrop to the storyline in places but that is just me. I would say give the film a go its better than some zombie movies out there.
