THE CHAKU MASTER is a rare slice of Bruceploitation that hails from the Philippines, no less. The film stars Bruce Ly, the name of both the protagonist and the actor masquerading as the usual Bruce Lee imitator. He plays a nice guy who just happens to be good at fighting and who fights a lot in his rural village. Unfortunately for him, he falls foul of the usual dastardly criminals (one of whom looks like Lee Van Cleef) who decide to frame him for a crime and cause him lots of problems in the process. The story's complete tosh, of course, but the good news is that there's a wealth of action to enjoy here, and it's not bad. Nothing amazing, of course, but it makes the running time fly past and it's not boring, and that's more than can be said for many of these kung fu cheapies of the 1970s.
