- We open with Hanna, Kate and their mothers awaiting a disciplinary meeting with vice principal Tamborelli.
Alison's claim ticket was for a rain jacket. Inside one of the pockets is a phone number. Aria calls it on Emily's phone and leaves a message saying they want to speak with Vivian.
Isabel is adamant that Hanna should be expelled for the phone incident, while Ashley believes her daughter when she says she didn't do it. While waiting on the school board's decision Tamborelli suggests they are put together during the upcoming "Truth Up Day," an overnight guided workshop at the school.
The girls talk about A using their phones again them. Emily mentions that Tamborelli is the reason she's not being allowed back on the swim team, since he's trying to appease a major sponsor.
Holden still won't tell Aria his reason for not telling her who he meets during their fake dates. His backpack is kicked over and a clear bag with white powder inside is knocked out. Holden quickly sticks it back in.
Jason is back in town from Georgia and tells Spencer he's looking for her father. Jason says he's been ducking him. When he learn Spencer's parents are supposed to be working the Truth Up event Jason agrees to be a supervisor.
Ashley wants to know who sent the picture of Kate. Hanna refuses to tell her about A.
Everybody arrives with their sleeping bags for Truth Up. Cell phones are not allowed to be turned on. Holden asks Aria if she told her mother about his bag. He tells her he's not hooked on anything or dealing.
Veronica tells Jason that Peter won't be attending the seminar. "Of course," he says. Caleb and Aria are in their group and he says he may have a lot to say.
During an exercise Emily starts getting angry about the way she's been treated. She glares at Tamborelli, who takes her aside. He says that her behavior is to blame.
Aria gets a text from A that reads: "Truth hurts, sweetie. May hurt your new pal more than you."
In the other group Kate says she wants to go back to her old school and that if somebody messes with you "you should be able to decide their punishment." Noel talks about how mean girls can be. Hanna starts ripping Noel and asks Ella if she thinks she could really be a bully. Ella doesn't answer and Hanna leaves.
At a break Emily starts talking to Mona. She apologizes for how Alison treated her. Mona starts talking about Tamborelli and mentions that football players have gotten away with a lot. Mona used to work in his office and saw a few things.
Jenna starts to vent about how she's been treated. She mentions being slapped by Hanna and Caleb interrupts her, pointing out that Jenna threw the first punch.
Spencer asks Jason why it's so important he talk to her father. She knows about the will, but doesn't know why he did so much to protect him. Jason tells her to asks Peter.
Aria calls back the number from Alison's jacket. She asks for Vivian and a girl hangs up, saying that "nobody here knows a Vivian."
Aria says she's not sure about covering for Holden anymore.
Caleb and Hanna talk on the roof of the school. She's worried her mother thinks she sent the picture of Kate. Caleb asks for her phone, saying he'll try and trace the picture. She just wants him to hold her.
Emily is called to Tamborelli's office. It turns out Mona is there. She says Tamborelli snuck out for a few beers.
Some of the mothers talk. Ella tells Ashley she doesn't think Hanna did what she's accused of. Ashley's worried that something happened to the girls when Alison died. Veronica thinks it happened when they met Alison.
Mona finds evidence that a football player was let back on the team after being caught tagging. The player's father owns a furniture store, and Tamborelli bought a $2,000 chair from him for $30. Mona prints of the evidence she thinks will get back on the team.
Veronica catches Jason leaving Peter another voicemail. Spencer overhears the conversation, which Jason says is about "owning up to the truth." She flashes back to hanging out with Alison. Spencer's parents were arguing because they caught Melissa and Jason making out. Alison says those two getting together would be "a match frowned upon by the gods."
Hanna watches Kate change her sweater and sees a birthmark that wasn't in the picture. Hanna thinks that the photo must have been photoshoppped and it may have been sent by Kate herself.
In the bathroom Hanna gets Kate to admit to sending the picture herself. She said it was done in anticipation of Spencer going after her. Aria was hiding in one of the stalls and recorded the conversation.
Hanna wants Aria to find Caleb and stop him from looking at her phone.
Aria walks into a room with Jenna and Noel. They rip on Caleb. She then goes to the roof looking for Caleb.
Spencer gets a text from A that says "Don't be scared, Spence. We're all family here, some more than others." She finds Jason and asks him if Peter is his father, too. He confirms it.
Aria ends up being locked onto the roof. She bangs on the door for someone to let her in. She climbs a ladder and Noel comes behind her grabs her leg. Holden comes up behind him and karate kicks him away. Noel yells that he wasn't trying to attack her. Aria asks Holden where he learned to fight like that. He doesn't give her an answer.
Emily watches Mona interact with Tamborelli. Mona walks out and says "done." Apparently all she had to do was tell him that football players do a lot of talking and that got her back on the team.
Before another meeting with Tamborelli Ashley makes a crack to Isabel about the "rotten fruit under her family tree."
Spencer yells at her mother for not telling her about Jason. She didn't know until Jason was an adult. Veronica says that every family has its secrets. Spencer is furious.
Emily got six missed calls from the Alison jacket number. They call it back and a guy answers. He wants to meet and they agree.
