Great short film.

Heartwarming tale of a boy's search for home. I really enjoyed the art direction and overall mood of the film. Nathan Gamble played an amazing role as a boy searching for a place in the world, a mother, and what it means to call somewhere or something "home". Having heard a live reading of the script in the early stages, I could see where changes were made to help make the story line and character development more cohesive. The cinematography was also a strong point of the film. The warm colors in the interior "home" shots contrasted nicely with the colder desaturated colors of the outdoor "journey" shots. Overall the film was was good, and my only suggestion is that there could have been more attention paid to frame compositions and music direction.

Excellent cast with a meaningful and truthful story

The highlight and first thing to be mentioned is the consummate Nathan Gamble as the lead character Linney. A spectacular actor well beyond his few years (and most other actors) more than competently handles many difficult scenes to bring the main premise of this story excellent believability and sharp reality. He is accompanied by a great cast to bring together a genuine, meaningful and insightful story into a very good short film.

Some small faults, almost impossible to avoid with independent filmmaking, detract little from the enjoyability of a moving and honestly told tale. The DVD, available from the website, fills in every other aspect with an amazing array of equally interesting and enjoyable extras.

A Gripping, Heartwarming Journey

This was one of the best short films I have seen in years. Compelling story, beautifully shot, great acting.

The audience I saw this film with was engaged throughout. This story of a young boy's emotional and physical journey was told artfully through great direction, wonderful acting and masterful editing and sound. I felt a strong connection to several of the characters in the film, including the boy. The movie could have turned out very heavy-handed in the emotional journey, but the director and actors held back enough for it to feel natural and true.

The cinematography was beautiful, without seeming overdone. Every shot put me in the film and led me through the story. I was not an outsider looking in, but connected to the characters and scenery in every shot.

I highly recommend this film.

Excellent Short Film

My husband and I had to miss the preview of this film and so were happy to be able to order a personal copy on DVD. From the menu title page to the many added extras at the end - it was very professional in every way. The cinematography was beautiful throughout - the story believable and kept us engaged all the way through. I thought it was too short and was not ready for it to end! I especially liked the little boy. I can tell he is a great actor already even at his young age and look forward to following his career as he will be used in many more projects in upcoming years. I know this film has been a dream of Kevin's for a very long time and it is a true joy to watch the finished project unfold before our eyes. I think he is a very talented writer and director and look forward to many more films from him in the future. Great job, Kevin! You have a bright future ahead of you! Blessings!

Amazing: Acting, Writing, Directing, and Music.

Warning: Spoilers
Let me just start this off by saying that the lead actor in this project, Nathan Gamble, is THE future of Hollywood. He has the talent of three actors twice his age put together. I have never seen him in anything where he even so much as messes up a line, or gives bad delivery, or doesn't deliver a picture perfect facial expression. Everyone that works with him says he is a delight to work with, takes direction well, and is dedicated, driven and professional. His performance in this movie was spot on as usual. His facial expressions where perfect, the emotion was dead on, no room for guessing, he got it all. If it was singing, his acting would be called pitch perfect. In moments of heavy emotion where other actors his age would either overact or come up flat, Nathan delivers dead on. He is the definition of a professional actor. When he cries he makes you really feel it, when he yells or gets upset he makes you feel that emotion, when he's happy you can't help but feel the same way. He captures the hearts of audiences effortlessly. Any casting director that doesn't think he has the chops is a simple fool.

That being said, this film is very relatable for a lot of people young and not so young. People who had a parent die or a parent walk out of them can certainly identify with this story. The uncertainty and confusion of thinking you weren't good enough or your parents didn't want you. The lines are perfect. They carry the right emotion. They carry the right message. Also, importantly, they don't sound to heavy or too sophisticated to be coming from the person (a 12-year-old boy) they are coming from. The music does it's job well too. It makes you feel the right feelings at the right time. Finally I think the directing was very well done. The director seemed to be able to shape the scenes exactly the way you would think they should go. He seemed to be able to get the right emotions and the right actions out of the young lead (Gamble) in every single shot. Which is not to say it would be a difficult task, seeing as he is a phenomenal actor, and a sure-fire future A-list star. But still the direction was A+ work. The visual appeal of this film was very well crafted. It was not hard to look at. Scenery and sets where very well constructed and presented. I give this movie 5 stars all around and a 10 out of 10!
