Storyline

Holly feels trapped,in an aimless affair with married David and a job teaching bored sixth formers,most of whom don't want to learn. The exception is Karen,who shares Holly's interest in art and soon the two are having a sexual relationship but they are betrayed by another pupil and decide to leave town together.

Dreadful writing

The plot for this episode is that a 16 year old girl is attracted to her older female teacher who reciprocates. The worst thing about this episode is you are left with the impression that it is OK for a Teacher to have a sexual relationship with a pupil. I wonder if the writer believes that as it is a same sex relationship it is acceptable (this is obviously homophobic) and that the girl is of the age of consent the relationship is not illegal. The pupil is under the supervision of the teacher so therefore the teacher is abusing their position of trust this is actually illegal up to the age of 18. I believe therefore the BBC is showing its ignorance by appearing to legitimize such a relationship.
