This isn't a bad series but it felt like others I had seen before. Protagonist Haruaki Yachi is an apparently ordinary Japanese school boy who one day receives a strange cube from his father. This isn't anything normal though; the cube is in fact Fear Kubrick; a cursed girl who is doomed to be used as a weapon by those who possess her. As is the way with such series Haruaki builds up a harem of similar beings. They end up involved in a series of supernatural fights with those who don't want Fear's curse lifted. During the various battles the combatants magically summon a variety of weapons and antagonists being what they are tend to explain what their latest weapon will do.
It was probably a mistake but I started watching this while already watching a not dissimilar series and frequently found my self trying to recall which events were from which series; not a problem I've had before. This was largely down to both having a male protagonist and his harem of supernatural girls getting caught up in a series of magical fights and the characters having a fairly generic look; that isn't to say the animation was poor or that the characters didn't look good; they just looked like characters one would seen in any number of similar series. If you like series with lots of magical fighting I'm sure you'll like this too. If you aren't into watching lots of fighting and scenes where the various magical beings and their powers are explained you might be less keen... although there are some decent comedy moments which should provide a laugh. There is some fan service although it isn't too naughty and what there is doesn't rely on 'lens flare' and steam to obscure the view so I don't imagine more would be visible on a DVD release. At only twelve episodes it isn't too long and it finishes with a decent ending that neither shuts the door on another season nor leaves things hanging. Overall I wouldn't recommend this unless you are already a fan of similar shows; if you are though there is a good chance you'll enjoy it.
