The Return Of Shaw
LoveIsAStateOfMind29 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY BROUGHT SHAW BACK. IS IT BECAUSE HE'S HOT?! Is it not enough that he was raised from the dead before?!?! I kind of feel that it was a bit anti-climatic having him be behind the Decker conspiracy because we've gone over this ground before. However, at least this episode draws a line under the whole "CIA out to get Chuck" thing once and for all.

And because I haven't blogged about it before: how awesome was Carrie Ann Moss?! I loved her and Casey, loved that she killed Decker for him/Sarah/Chuck. Adorable. I was hoping that Casey would end up back with Alex's Mum but I don't think they're going to play that card as it's a bit late in the game to squash that into the last few episodes, especially when she's apparently happy in the relationship she is in. Maybe if there was one more season I would have liked them to be endgame but as it is then I'm going with Casey/Verbanski OTP.

Anyway, back to Shaw ….. the whole thing is so complicated I forget who he is really mad at – Chuck for beating him last time they met or Sarah for killing his wife even though it was years ago, she didn't know it was his wife and Shaw would also have had to kill someone's mother/wife/husband/son/brother in order to qualify for the CIA so why can't he get over this?!?!?!?!?! Oh wait, yes, it's Sarah he's really mad at.

Nice move getting rid of Shaw's Intersect. Does that mean we go into the final half of the season with no Intersect?! Or is Chuck going to get it back?! Do I even want Chuck/anyone to have the Intersect?!?! Worst thing to happen would be for Chuck to get it back in the final scene of the series. I want Chuck/Sarah to live happily ever after whilst still keeping their spy-lives on an ad-hoc basis.

This moment was the best moment of the episode (and quite possibly one of the best Chuck moments ever): Beckman/SantaChuck Words cannot describe how much I loved this moment / Beckman generally.

Casey's message to Alex on the soft toy polar bear <3 <3 <3 <3. Ever since Alex has appeared, I love Casey even more.

ELLIE TO THE RESCUE!!!!!!!! LOVE! And I love how it mirrored how Sarah saved Chuck from Shaw last time.

The perfect Christmas!!!! Casey shipping Alex/Morgan is hilarious. As all Casey/Morgan story lines generally are.

Chuck giving Sarah his mother's bracelet again ….. mirroring the first time he gave it to her in the Season 2 Christmas episode (one of my favourite moments) – I LOVE THE SYMMETRY! This is why I love this show! It's the little things …. <3 <3 <3.

Enough of Shaw already

Literally not a single person cares about Shaw but writers keep bringing him back time after time. The writers of this show must be secretly in love with Brandon Routh who plays Shaw so they are looking for every chance and every excuse to bring him back to the show even though no one who actually watches the show cares about him. He's not interesting, not funny and nothing but annoying.

Maybe writers should have made a separate show for Brandon Routh where is the starring actor playing the main character so that they can admire him and fall in love with him over and over again but they should have kept him out of Chuck.

Wow, so much fun!!!

Well this episode was fantastic! So scary and suspenseful with Sarah being taken.

Morgan and Alex are adorable, as usual! I've grown to love Morgan in all his quirkiness!

Awesome and Ellie are great! Ellie saving the day is really cool!

Chuck is bad-a$$ as usual. I love him whether he has the intersect or not. His and Ellie's relationship is precious. Being without their parents since they were young certainly strengthened their familial bond. It shows in so many episodes. It's great that family is just so important to chuck!

Love Casey! Love the Christmas theme! Love the characters! Another amazing episode!

This one could have been so much better

Warning: Spoilers
While I love this show, this is one of the least consistent episodes. It has plot holes and scenes that don't add up and the plot is too inconsistent with the lore.

**Spoiler Alert**

This episode has the escape of Shaw from prison. Somehow he staged the release of a virus, that was constructed years before his imprisonment, to free himself. Also why would they lock him up with the intercept when they have the tech to remocve it with a pair of glasses. Forgoing that idiocy, chuck says the "nerders" are better than any CIA computer expert. Also this season Chuck became a super hacker. Too rushed.

Promising season just went down the drain

What happened? I'm genuinely confused. The other 3 episodes before this were good. All of a sudden the dialogue is extremely poor. Especially the plot and reveals in this is half assed. I don't get why this episode is rated higher than the last couple. It's disappointing. It's not Shaw i have a problem with. I liked his arc and him as a villain and him coming back makes sense but the writing is just LAZY!! It's the plot holes. It doesn't make sense to me. I can't get past it. It just sucks because otherwise it had the ability to be good as well. Well not good but It could've been up until now. As it's been leading to this but I can't get past anything that happened and I'll tell you why.

Let's start off with Shaw and him breaking out of prison and his perfectly timed release of the virus. That he apparently came up with before he went to prison. Fine I'll believe it but what I won't believe is that the government (CIA) locked him up with the Intersect. We saw how easy it is to take the intersect away and even suppress it. We've seen it with Chuck so many times. It's quick to do. When they have access to high tech. Like come on, wouldn't happen. They'll take it from Chuck who's gave them information for years and saved and helped them. But they'll keep it in Shaw who's in prison. Maybe they did take it from him and he found a way to get it back but they didn't state that. But what's even more ridiculous is that they brought Daniel Shaw back just to use him. They disposed of him too quickly. Got an unbelievable plot. Why build this up then do that so fast? Waste of an arc. Even him trying to kill Sarah. When we know he wanted revenge so bad. Tried and failed a few times. He would probably just kill her quickly. Shaw has no backup as well. Which is weird since he's been doing everything he's doing. It's just so stupid. Not even a good fight sequence. Badly executed is an understatement. I know it's only gonna get worse if the rest is like this episode. Well at least I got 3 good episodes until it went up in flames again.

Chucks hacking skills and abilities. I liked it in episode 5. It worked. Even the references were good. I know he has some skills with computers obviously but they made him out to be better than the CIA here. Since when is he better than anyone who works for the CIA who are geniuses with computers? They make it out like only he can do it. I would've even liked to see him do more of this but it's rushed. It works. I can see it for him but it felt forced and there wasn't enough build up of him actually doing this.

Can't forget "does Chuck know about the baby" as well. Hinting that she had a baby from a previous relationship. Of course that's gonna be a storyline. There's been talks of them having kids. But it was very obviously they wouldn't have her be pregnant on screen as without her it's only Casey who's able to do the missions properly. It would've be the same if she sat them out unless they time jumped. She gets kicked in the stomach basically every episode so it wouldn't work. Of course there will probably be an adoption. Which I don't see how, it would be very traumatic if they're already with a family. Unless someone is looking after he/she for her but earlier seasons it was unlikely she would ever settle down she said that so that's very unlikely. Not my kind of plotline but hopefully it isn't too bad.

Also I couldn't even enjoy the other stuff going on in the Buy More. It was good we saw more of them but unfortunately It just wasn't funny. Not sure if it was supposed to be but it wasn't. It felt out of place. Considering this arc has been the centre of this season. I think the plot holes were too much that I just couldn't find anything likeable about it but I will say that the only thing that I actually thought was likeable during the whole episode was near the ending, Casey telling Alex he loved her finally and she said the same. And him saying "that Grimes kid isn't so bad. Maybe you should give him a chance" I feel like he's come full circle. Very heartfelt moment. I like the father and daughter moments between them and they've brought more emotion and great action than a lot of scenes during this whole series.
