Hansel, Yemen, Haven, Marigold Change Dates

22 December 2011 10:54 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Paramount has pushed back the Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton-led action fantasy "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" from a March 2nd to a 'to be determined' date sometime next Fall.

The move isn't surprising as so far the only publicity for the film has been one still - a trailer has been long overdue but with the delay it gives the studio much more time to get its publicity and marketing campaign together.

CBS Films has pushed back the Ewan McGregor-led "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" by a week to March 9th, while Relativity have moved the Nicholas Sparks adaptation "Safe Haven" back by nearly four months to a June 1st release date.

Music Box Films have finally announced a date for the Rachel Weisz-led woman's sexual awakening drama "The Deep Blue Sea" - it will hit March 30th.

Lionsgate has set the dates for two more »

Kim Jeopardizing Rob's 'DWTS' Win?

22 November 2011 11:40 AM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

It takes more than a boycott threat to scare Rob Kardashian.

Yes, Internet users are still adding their signatures to an online petition, vowing to swear off all things Kardashian in retaliation for Kim's decision to divorce Kris Humphries after just 72 days. But Rob's friends say he isn't worried that his infamous last name will deter voters from dialing in their support during Tuesday night's "Dancing With the Stars" finals.

"This has not been an easy few weeks for the family, but you have to remember that on 'Dancing with the Stars' you are voting for someone to win, not against anyone," a friend of the family tells me. "And with over 11 million Twitter followers for Kim alone, five million for Khloe, four million for Kourtney, 1.5 million for mom Kris Jenner and over 2.4 million followers himself, Rob's army of fans will mobilize to vote, dwarfing any grassroots support »

The blatant money making machine that is "Kardashian" has reached the nadir of popularity, as the quickie marriage and divorce of Kim Kardashian spurred a boycott with nearly 150,000 signatures online. Kim Kardashian and her family are the cash cows for Ryan Seacrest production and E! with all the various Kardashian-related programming. Tyler Perry Defends His Casting Of Kim Kardashian In New Movie

18 November 2011 9:53 AM, PST | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

By Henna Kathiya

Tyler Perry fans were not too happy about his choice of casting reality star Kim Kardashian in his latest project, "The Marriage Counselor." Two weeks ago, Perry announced Kardashian had been chosen to play Ava, a co-worker of Judith (Jurnee Smollett), an Ivy League educated therapist who decides to step outside of her marriage to spice up her life. Fans of the prolific director immediately took to the message boards, denouncing Perry’s choice of someone they feel to be morally questionable. In light of Kardashian recently announcing her divorce from Kris Humphries after only 72 days of marriage, Perry’s fans are even more enraged.

After weeks of fans protesting the casting of Kardashian in "The Marriage Counselor," Perry defended his actions in an open letter on his website. It seems as if the mind behind "Madea" believes that Kim K. is a role model to millions of her followers. »

Tyler Perry Defends Kim Kardashian in The Marriage Counselor

17 November 2011 4:28 PM, PST | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

A couple of months ago, Christian filmmaker Tyler Perry cast reality TV star Kim Kardashian in his youth-oriented movie The Marriage Counselor. Just recently, Kardashian's 72-day marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries sparked an outcry online, whether from those with no life of their own, those who worship TV trash and feel betrayed by their goddess, those who — unlike Clint Eastwood — believe in the "sanctity" of marriage (even if only in the sanctity of other people's marriages), or those who point out that in the United States Kardashian and Humphries can get married as often and for as little time as they want while gay couples, no matter how long-lasting their relationship, can't. After some of Perry's fans — who tend to be a traditionalist lot — condemned his casting of Kardashian, Perry defended his decision by writing on his blog: After I finished writing this movie, I sat back and re-read it. »

Tyler Perry explains Kim Kardashian 'Marriage Counselor' Kasting: 'It would be very responsible of her to be a part of this film'

17 November 2011 4:15 PM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Remember that time a couple of weeks ago when one of television’s other most obnoxious celebrities got a divorce? Unfortunately, of course you do. Yet there was one crucial, ridiculous piece to this puzzle that I had completely forgotten about until today: One week before the implosion of Kim Kardashian’s marriage, the unlucky-in-love star was cast in Tyler’s Perry’s newest film, The Marriage Counselor, playing — you guessed it — a marriage counselor. The kasting was wonderfully, unintentionally timely, and also completely absurd. I’m sold.

Apparently, the irony has been lost on Perry’s dedicated fan-base. Today, »

Tyler Perry Takes To The Web To Defend Casting Kim Kardashian

Grassroots protestors have been trying to initiate a ban on all things Kim Kardashian following her lavish wedding but blink-and-you-missed marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries. And while the movement hasn.t necessarily had the impact of, say, Occupy Wall Street, it has prompted director Tyler Perry to take to his official Web site and defend the reality TV starlet. Sort of. For those who don.t know, Perry recently cast Kardashian in his upcoming drama The Marriage Counselor. She.s set to play Ava, personal assistant to a professional matchmaker who apparently is interested in clothes, style and fashion. Sounds like a stretch. But thanks to her publicity-generating nuptials, some people are disgusted that Kardashian would be associated with any project related to marriage. And they.re letting Perry know about it. .I Have Seen Them!! You Have Been Heard!! .Lol,. the director blogs. .After I finished writing this »

Perry Defends Kardashian Casting

17 November 2011 2:01 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Director Tyler Perry has defended his decision to cast socialite Kim Kardashian in his upcoming film The Marriage Counselor after disapproving fans vowed to boycott the movie.

Kardashian signed on for a supporting role in the new comedy last month just before announcing plans to end her marriage to basketball player Kris Humphries after just 72 days.

The casting announcement upset Perry's devotees and he was bombarded with angry letters blasting his decision to hire the reality TV star.

In an open letter to fans online, Perry admits he was shocked to receive so many complaints - especially as he simply wants to keep busy as he struggles through the holiday period following the loss of his mother in December, 2009.

Asking for moviegoers' understanding, he writes, "I think many of you know that this is a very difficult time of year for me, so what I try to do is make sure that I'm working during this time. All I wanted to do was shoot a great film and try to keep my mind off the holiday grief that I have been experiencing for the past two years. I could not have imagined I'd be getting all these emails about Kim Kardashian. I Have Seen Them!! You Have Been Heard!!"

Perry goes on to explain that he is standing by his choice of actress, insisting he picked Kardashian to star in the film because he wants her teenage followers to pay attention to the movie's meaningful message - and he pays no mind to recent tabloid criticism about her brief marriage and divorce from Humphries.

He continues, "Why wouldn't Kim Kardashian be invited into a film about Faith, Forgiveness and the healing power of God? What is wrong with that??

"I knew that this message was not only for my age group, but for all audiences, especially the youth. Especially The Youth!! Young Folks Need To See This!!! And not just the young people that follow me, but the young people that are following other young people, as well.

"To have the young people that look up to her, see her in a film that is about what happens in life when you make the wrong choices... Millions of young people adore her and are following her every move. If one of those young people see this film and find the strength to live a better life and not go through what these characters went through in this movie, then we have all done what I feel I'm being led to do here. I hope you understand. I really do!" »

Tyler Perry Defends Kim Kardashian, Says She's A Role Model

17 November 2011 12:54 PM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

When Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kris Humphries, movie fans seized on the irony of its timing. Not only was it just 72 days after her wedding, it also came shortly after her casting in Tyler Perry's next film, "The Marriage Counselor."

There has been plenty of uproar and resentment toward Kim -- many fans feel used or, that her marriage was a profit-driven sham -- and thanks to his casting, Perry has received some blowback himself. Commenters flooded into his website, demanding that Kim's part (the glitzy friend of a matchmaker) be recast. Kardashian's scenes, though, have already been shot, and Perry defended keeping her in the film.
