Several people from the actual "No" campaign in Chile were hired to play members of the "Yes" campaign in the film.
Shot in the video support U-matic 3:4, which was used at the end of the 1980s, to give more realism.
The character René Saavedra, played by Gael García Bernal, is loosely based on Eugenio García.

Many active contributors to the "No" campaign had cameos as themselves for the movie. One of the most prominent ones was Patricio Aylwin, who would later become Chile's first democratically elect president after Pinochet lost the referendum.

The teaser ad campaign René Saavedra works on throughout the movie is "Bellas y Audaces" (Beautiful and Bold) an actual soap opera that ran on Chilean national television during the first semester of 1988.
