Out of Control Chinese Bikers!
Uriah431 March 2023
This film begins with two brothers from a wealthy family having joined a motorcycle gang to essentially relieve their boredom. As is often the case, the younger brother named "Michael" (Lin Wen-Wei) is rather spoiled and has an obnoxious personality that typically gets him in trouble. Conversely, the older brother is much more mature and because of that is chosen as "the Leader" (Lee Chung-Ling) of the motorcycle gang. The scene then shifts to a young man named "Kuo Chien-Chung" (Ling Yun) escorting his wife "Chien Mei-Chuan" (Terry Liu) and his younger sister "Kuo Ji-Lia" (Kong San) on a ferry that will eventually take them to an expensive beach house where they will be welcomed by Ji-Lia's boyfriend "Sze Wei" (Danny Lee). Unfortunately, their trip starts off rather badly when they encounter the motorcycle gang who decide to have some fun at Ji-Lia's expense. However, their antics are interrupted when Sze Wei appears and chases them off. What Sze Wei doesn't realize, however, is that they haven't seen the last of this motorcycle gang and--thanks to Michael--things are about to become much worse for everyone concerned. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that I honestly didn't expect much from this CAT III film from Hong Kong as they typically have low production values and often feature rather poor acting as well. And while this movie certainly contained both of these elements, I thought that some of the action scenes made up for it to a certain degree. On that note, however, I should mention that this particular film has both a Chinese and French version--with the former being highly edited while the other is more explicit. In this particular case, I happened to watch the unedited French version simply because it was the only one available to me at the time. So, I really cannot say whether the edited Chinese version omitted any pertinent details or not. Be that as it may, while this movie certainly wasn't a great film by any means, I didn't think it was necessarily that bad either, and I have rated it accordingly. Average.
