Best Afghanistan War Documentary Series
travisbrown_115 August 2013
I'll make this short and sweet.

Both of Ross Kemp's "In Afghanistan" and "Return to Afghanistan" are by far the best two documentary series made on the war in Afghanistan. The series bring you straight to the front line with amazing combat footage as well as intelligently-timed interviews with soldiers and Afghans. The combination of the two gives us a complete perspective of what is happening and what the people involved think about what is happening in Afghanistan.

Ross' commenting makes scenes vastly easier to understand, especially when the camera crew can't pick up what some soldiers are saying in the midst of an intense battle. I also feel the need to say how smart it was of Ross to focus on the soldiers, and not to debate whether the war is right or wrong like so many other documentaries. This allows Ross to focus on what's important and it makes for something that is widely unique.

The footage itself is great quality compared to most of the documentaries you'll find on YouTube which makes for a enjoyable viewing experience.

I tip my hat to everyone behind the making of these series and want to give special thanks to all our troops who make sacrifices on a daily basis for all of us at home. And to all those who have honorably given their life in the line of duty, we shall never forget.
