In a conversation with Sofia, Muir refers to coffee as "sipping a cup of Joe". This figure of speech was probably not used in 1912.

When Mark and Sofia imagine what might have happened if they had first met in New York City, Mark talks about their having a "cup of joe" together. Coffee wasn't referred to as "joe" until 1930 or 1931.
