- Jealous over Barney's relationship with Nora, Robin tells her court-appointed therapist the series of events that led up to the assault that she committed.
- Robin is attending court ordered therapy sessions stemming from an incident where she assaulted someone. The assault had something to do with her feelings for Barney, and not being able to deal emotionally with watching Barney court Nora, especially in the public and over-the-top manner he was doing it. As Robin tells the story, which includes her helping Barney as a "friend" erase the many loose hanging scams to pick up women so that Nora will think him a changed man, Robin's therapist, Kevin, gets more and more exasperated by the long winded nature of Robin's story. Part of that exasperation comes from what he sees as a tangent to the story he wants and needs to hear, but that Robin swears is cogent to the assault charge. That tangent concerns Ted inserting himself into Lily's pregnancy, as he has always seen himself, Marshall and Lily as an unbreakable threesome, like three peas in a pod. As Ted especially had issues with advice doled out by Dr. Sonya - Lily's somewhat free-spirited obstetrician - Marshall, Lily and ultimately Ted had to figure out what role, if any, Ted was going to play in the pregnancy.—Huggo
- After assaulting a woman aiming to break up Barney's relationship with Nora, Robin must attend a court-mandated therapy session with Kevin (Kal Penn). As she tells the therapist the events leading up to the assault, Robin keeps digressing into the story of how Ted became too involved with Lily's pregnancy.
During the session, she reveals to her therapist that she has been growing jealous of the attention that Barney showers on Nora, reinforcing the fact that Robin still has feelings for Barney. Barney sent Nora Chocolates, flowers, balloons at work and Robin saw all that since she and Nora worked together at the same office. Patrice (Ellen D. Williams) is their common friend and coworker. When she succeeds in getting Nora sent to France to cover a G-8 summit, Robin secretly hopes to use the time to win Barney back.
While Barney is serious about Nora, he has forgotten about his BDSes (Bimbo Delivery Systems). Over the years Barney has launched a variety of systems that are working in the background to get Barney laid. Like his pop-up ads for free breast reduction consultation, and a follow up scam of a lawyer Arnie Linson who claims to help the victims of the previous scam. Barney has to shut down all of these systems in 3 days before Nora returns. He has a guy at the Port Authority who would alert Barney to any wide eyed farm girl, who would step off the bus to make it big in Broadway, and would have no clue about what a casting director could legally ask her to do, hold or lick. Robin helps Barney pack up all of the items he uses for running plays on women, and when they go back to MacLaren's, Robin suggests that they dress up and go out on the town drunk and wasted for one last time. Before Barney can respond, Nora walks in, having returned early. They leave and Robin ends up getting drunk under the table of their booth. When a 'victim' of one of Barney's plays shows up at the bar, Robin sends her after Barney and Nora, hoping to break them up.
Meanwhile, Ted becomes concerned that Lily is consuming wine and Cheetos while pregnant, especially after learning that her doctor Sonya (Vicki Lewis) allows Lily to have "just a little bit" of everything that Lily asks for. Ted lauds the fact that they have always been a trio (Ted calls himself part of "team baby"), but Lily pushes back, saying that Ted never gives them privacy. She says that Marshall and she need their space. They needed it back they were in college, and they need it now. Lily complains that even back in college Ted did not understand the meaning of "Sock on door" which is a Universal code for "we need our space and privacy". Marshall takes Ted's side, sympathizing with how Ted has always been the third wheel in their relationship.
Marshall and Ted attend a birthing class that Ted had signed the group up for. However, Lily refuses to participate and at the birthing class, Ted reveals that he is afraid of losing his friends. He feels his life is lagging behind everyone else's, thinking he should've been married and having kids by now. They leave the class and return to Marshall and Lily's apartment. Marshall apologizes to Lily, but finds that Ted has left the building, leaving one of his socks on the handle of their apartment door.
When Robin and Ted talk at their apartment, Robin realizes that she was selfish in trying to break up Barney and Nora. She rushes to the restaurant and attacks the girl to stop her from getting to Barney, with the result that both women are arrested. Kevin says that Robin is a good friend.
