behind the scenes of The Other Boleyn Girl
10 October 2011 | by (Calumet, Mich.) – See all my reviews

A typical 10' of making the film The Other Boleyn Girl, rather than some short about history. Not to say it isn't nice to see more of Scarlett Johansson & Natalie Portman. That is why I watched The Other Boleyn Girl in the first place--to see those two gals. Thinking of Philippa Gregory's novel as research material. What drove Gregory to write her book? Dredging Mary Boleyn out of the footnotes. In a sense a trustworthy observer. Could such an amazing story possibly not have been told as a movie before? Taking the spirit and the energy and the verve of the book itself. Who this family is. What their ambitions are. What the film shows and what it does not. Which sister is the other Boleyn girl?
