Malcolm continues to be annoyingly unsympathetic towards Karl, acting as though Susan up and leaving him and not having any contact is no big deal and he should just put up with it.Although Karl's attempt to go after her is foolhardy and Malcolm does at least seem to be making an attempt to help their marriage.
While the storyline of Toadie and Sonya having Peter for lunch demonstrates that no-one seems to have a level other than sycophantic or argumentative, it's a nice twist that Peter appreciates Sonya standing up to him and actually enjoys the debate. The Kate/Noah/Sophie love triangle seems to be a bit of a slow burn and it's hard to know where exactly it can go, since none of them are actually interested in each other.
