Legendary has won a bidding war for rights to the China-set action movie “Skyscraper” with Dwayne Johnson attached to star.

Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing from his own script. Beau Flynn is producing through his FlynnPictureCo. with Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions. Thurber will also produce.

Zhang Yimou’s ‘Great’ Adventure

11 May 2016 9:44 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

At an age when most men might prefer to slow down, Zhang Yimou is set to take on a string of global-scale projects that will venture beyond cinema.

These projects aren’t just ambitious and lucrative for Zhang, according to China film observers. They’re also widely viewed as key projects capable of exporting China’s soft power and competing for high-profile accolades. The latter goal would seem to be well within reach of Zhang, a two-time Golden Lion winner at the prestigious Venice Film Festival.

The iconic Fifth Generation director is in post-production on “The Great Wall,” his first English-language film. With a budget of $135 million, it stars Matt Damon, Andy Lau and Zhang Hanyu.

Zhang previously enjoyed great box office success with his 2003 martial arts epic “Hero,” which raked in 250 million yuan ($41 million) in China — more than three times what he had expected — and $177 million worldwide. Afterward, “House of Flying Daggers »

But that is no longer the case. 20th Century Fox issued a statement today that production on the sequel has been shut down indefinitely.

The studio still hasn't released any official details about the on-set accident, but reports have claimed that the actor suffered a concussion, a facial fracture and several lacerations from&#160a motorcycle stunt that went horribly wrong. It isn't known what has changed about the actor's condition between then and now, and the studio hasn't revealed when production will get started once again. Take a look at the »

'Kingsman 2' Gets 'Game of Thrones' Star Pedro Pascal

8 April 2016 10:13 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Yesterday, a new poster surfaced for 20th Century Fox's upcoming sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which teased that Kingsman: The Secret Service star Colin Firth may return, despite his character Harry Hart being killed off in the original movie. While we wait for confirmation on Colin Firth's return, Deadline reports that the cast keeps growing, with Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal signing on. The actor will be playing a character named Jack Daniels, who may be a character teased in a previous report.

Last month it was revealed that Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong) visit the U.S., where they encounter Halle Berry's character and a "swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy" called Jack. This is presumably the role that Pedro Pascal has landed. That report also revealed the U.S. version of Kingsman is an organization known as the Statesmen, while we saw concept art of Julianne Moore's villainous lair, »

Pedro Pascal Joins The "Kingsman" Sequel

8 April 2016 7:31 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Though only appearing in a handful of episodes during the fourth season, actor Pedro Pascal made a major name for himself as fan favorite Oberyn Martell in HBO's "Game of Thrones".

Now, the actor has joined the cast of Matthew Vaughn's upcoming sequel "Kingsman: The Golden Circle," taking on a role where the only detail at the moment is that he's named Jack Daniels. It's unclear if he's the "swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy" style agent character who apparently plays a key role in this mostly U.S.-set outing.

Pascal will join returnees Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Edward Holcroft for this follow-up to "Kingsman: The Secret Service," while Halle Berry is set to play the head of the CIA and Julianne Moore is in talks to play the villain.

The first film became a sleeper hit last year, grossing a whopping $415 million. Pascal also stars in "Narcos »

This is pretty cool.

Pedro Pascal, the Chilean actor who's made a name for himself on shows like Game Of Thrones, Narcos, and will be re-teaming with his The Adjustment Bureau co-star Matt Damon in the upcoming film The Great Wall, is joining the cast of Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The exceedingly versatile actor made, perhaps, his biggest splash as Oberyn Martell in Season 4 of Game Of Thrones, and is said to be playing American spy Jack Daniels in Matthew Vaughn's sequel to the R-rated spy romp, Kingsman: The Secret Service.

According to Deadline, the deal is done, and he'll appear in the film alongside Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Julianne Moore, Edward Holcroft, and the rumored Halle Berry

'John Wick: Chapter 2' And Matt Damon's 'The Great Wall' Set 2017 Release Dates

18 February 2016 2:47 PM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

With "Deadpool" now making it okay for R-rated movies to open on holiday weekends and smash all records in sight, it's not a surprise that other studios are going to start toying with the same concept, and Lionsgate are certainly going to give it a whirl. The studio has announced that "John Wick: Chapter 2" will drop on February 10, 2017, which is pretty much the same pre-Valentine's Day release date as "Deadpool." Audiences certainly showed it doesn't just have to be rom-coms and dramas that hit the multiplex on that day, but the Keanu Reeves-starring action flick will still have some tough competition from the Idris Elba starring "Mountains Between Us," the animated "Lego Batman Movie," and the sequel "Fifty Shades Darker." That's one crowded weekend, and we'll see if any of them blink. Meanwhile, Matt Damon's Zhang Yimou-directed "The Great Wall" is moving away from its original release date of November 23rd, »
