Transporting a fake
12 September 2015 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

This episode sees Frank transporting a valuable painting; before he even gets to his destination he is chased by a woman on a motorbike, who claims it is hers, and when he finally gets to his destination it is claimed that the picture is a forgery. The buyer, Max Khyber, is understandably not never happy and it is Frank who is the firing line. Luckily he manages to escape before the questioning begins as Khyber's enforcer is a leather clad blonde who likes removing fingers with a pair of secateurs! Fleeing with the forged painting Frank tracks down the woman, Rebecca Pissarro, who claims to own it and learns that it belonged to her family till is was stolen by a Nazi during the war. Frank and Rebecca race to find the real painting before Khyber and his heavies catches up with them.

After a mildly amusing pre-credit sequence that sees Frank delivering a dog the story proper gets off to a good start. The scenes where Rebecca chases Frank is exciting as we have no idea who is on the bike as Frank does his best to evade her. Once we are introduced to the villains they are suitable menacing; Hannes Jaenicke is good enough as Khyber but it is Ieva Lucs who steals the show as the secateur wielding Lara. The action is pretty good; as well as the opening chase we get an impressive fight in an art gallery where Frank creates his own modern art masterpiece as he batters some goons with cans of paint. The fact that the painting had been stolen by the Nazis is a bit cliché but that doesn't take away from the story and is better than having an original but overly convoluted reason for Rebecca to be claiming ownership. Overall a pretty good episode with some good action and a delightfully over the top villainess.
