South of Southern is a film that explores the lives of several seemingly traditional Southerners and the complications that often arise when old society mantras meet the modern age. This is a tale of treachery, deceit, debauchery, and salvation, seen through the eyes of a handful of diverse party guests celebrating the engagement of a young couple, delving into the darker side of proper Southern society. Two families collide at the apex of a generation, each clan harboring staggering secrets that not even their own relatives could fathom - an epic clashing of truth, appearance, alcohol, and morality, destined to forever shape the future of both bloodlines. I thought this movie had potential, but it is exceptional. I could not control my laughter the entire film. Since it was an ultra low budget independent film, I was not sure what to expect, yet it was just like watching my a great television show, I was so invested in the characters. There are ten principle cast members and all of them seem so realistic and unique, I was completely enthralled with them. By the end, I wanted to know more about the characters, what they were going to do, where they would go, they were so real and engaging. I highly recommend that you check this one out, it is worth the risk you take watching an independent film with a low budget.
