Storyline

Summer vacation started, and Greg has his own way to enjoy it with video games. However, his father wants him to go outside and stop playing video games, and his mother has her own plans, including a reading club. In addition, Greg can't get along with his father. The only thing they have in common is the hatred for the Lil Cutie Comics. Things only get worse after the stay at the beachside cabin goes totally wrong. Will anything go right? At least there's Holly Hills. Written by gamergcfan

Good kids fare

It's summer vacation time, and all Greg (Zachary Gordon) wants to do is play video games. His dad Frank (Steve Zahn) is not happy, and sends him outside. With his school crush Holly (Peyton List) spending her time coaching at the country club, Greg decides to spend his time there. Only he needs to use Rowley Jefferson (Robert Capron) pretending to be his guest. That's because Rowley's father disapproves of him. Then there is Greg's brother Rodrick (Devon Bostick). He threatens to expose Greg's lies unless he gets invited himself to play with his band at Holly's sister Heather (Melissa Roxburgh)'s party.

Greg is most annoying when he's lying and scheming. It would be better if he had more reluctance to do some of these things. It makes him too unlikeable. However it's great when he learns his lesson. I guess that's what this is all about. His friendship with Rowley is at the center of this film. But it's also great to see that Holly isn't simply a 2-dimensional character.
