An action packed end to series two.

Tom has a fairly large to do list, he has to get hold of the gun, get half of the gold, and silence The deadly widow Foyle.

It's so over the top it's untrue, but there's is no denying the entertainment value, it's no Line of Duty, no Vigil, but this second series has actually gained its own identity, midway through this series I felt that it improved substantially, I had hopes for this finale.

We had plenty of questions going into this one, was Tom going to get away with yet more murders, was Olivia going to get the gold, or would ruthless American Ryan Savage get his gold back, could it possibly deliver?

Ryan was interesting, for such a tough guy, he's a mixed bag, I liked his sarcasm and he is a monster, but I don't believe for one second that he'd have allowed Olivia to keep delaying getting him the gold multiple times, he'd have dealt with her on day one.

Finally we get to see Tom and Savage meet, and it is an intense, amusing scene, you just know what Tom would have wanted to do, instead he gets to do multiple death stares.

Olivia has been the most interesting character this series by a mile, and Smurfit has been tremendous.

Hard not to have enjoyed this, plenty happening.

8/10.

Guilty pleasure dirty cop show fun

I'm glad I stuck with the show. The intensity built up with each episode and season finale was packed with suspense.

Sure, some of Bloodlands is cliche and stereotyped but I went along for the ride and enjoyed it quite a lot.

My guess is that there are plans for another season. I'll be ready.

Nesbit is the anti-hero. The lead character who is also the bad guy but you still end up rooting for him for some reason.

The daughter is cool, Tom's female partner cool. Birdy and the boss all grew on me as the show went on. I am a bit surprised that this show does not have loads of reviews and comments.

7 out of 10 for the acting

Warning: Spoilers
Well...it's hard to rate a series that has a main character who is just the epitome of an anti-hero. You're watching him at the end of his decades long journey into darkness, where he's found himself up against an impenetrable wall with no escape. You know his down fall is inevitable, but the writers have done such a stellar job of making this journey so watchable and fascinating that you can't not watch. I tried. Believe me I hadn't planned on watching the second season but made the mistake of watching the 1st episode and of course I was sucked in ...again. It's obvious from this episode that a third season is in the works, but I don't know how they'll manage to produce as interesting and watchable a next chapter with the main character spending most probably the rest of his life in prison, but if anyone can do it, Chris Brandon can. And, I'm really going to miss Birdy, he didn't deserve an ending like that. Chris Walley was marvelous in that role. It will be very interesting to see how the relationship between Izzy and Tom Brannick evolves going forward, if it even can. But, kudos to the cast, they are all just matvelous.

Warning: Spoilers
The second series of Bloodlands concludes in a bonkers and slightly unsatisfying way.

By the end, I really wondered if anyone apart from James Nesbitt's bank balance would want a third series.

While daughter Izzy is still angry over the death of her boyfriend Birdy.

Tom Brannick still plans to keep all the gold for himself and even makes plans to spend it. Daughter Izzy comes useful.

However Olivia Foyle schemes to keep the gold and Ryan Savage uses threats to have his gold returned to him.

Back at the police station, any time Tom feels under threat like a possible witness emerging. He just cooly diverts any evidence coming to him first so he can get rid of it.

It is all a bit Treasure of Sierra Madre. That gold could be the death of everyone and Savage abducts Izzy.

I think Bloodlands could had done with Tom Brannick getting his comeuppance.
