The House On Cuckoo Lane...Some believe it is a genuine snuff film. Some believe its existence is purely rumour. This is the video nasty every horror collectors wants. But you don't find this movie...this movie finds you.
Arkansas, November 1973 - Frank (Michael Ray Davis) and his grandson, D (Thor Wahlestedt) go on an afternoon hunt. Just before dusk, the two hunters wander into the darkening woods to track down their recent kill and, to their horror, find that instead of a deer, they've shot their trespassing neighbor, Marion Mitchell (Thomas Moore). With a history of land disputes with the Mitchells fresh on Frank's mind, he assures the boy that the only option is to hide the body deep in the woods. As the night draws on, they find themselves only deeper in darkness, and the lines between good and evil are no longer clear. Soon they begin to question if everything will really be okay, Come Morning. Written by
low key drama that might just be a little too low key for it's own good
I didn't want to bag on this movie too hard because it feels like the people who made it did have a story they wanted to tell and it feels sincere in a sense and they didn't really have much of a budget to work with either.
However the fact that the only reviews here as I am writing this have 10/10 ratings and talk about it being amazing I felt like I kinda had to at least give a different opinion on the movie.
I don't really see how anyone could think that this is a 10/10 movie but to each their own.
For me, it didn't make me feel any kind of emotions or make me invest in any of the characters and I just found it rather empty and slow.
I mean stuff does happen but for whatever reason it didn't make me feel anything.
I didn't know it was supposed to be set in 1973 until I came here to rate the movie I just seen, it has zero indications to it being set in 1973 and I have no idea why it would have to be either.
It also gets a little confusing with the narrative sometimes jumping back in time without indications of it doing so, and the end felt like they didn't know how to end it it just kinda stopped.
Yeah I'm not terribly impressed with this one, I'm sure the director will make a good movie in the future, this just isn't it
