Actor Ralph Garman's character is wearing his trademark leather jacket just like he does in real life.
Wilson's patient's ex-boyfriend is named Bobby who is described as fun, but alcoholic, and his girlfriend used to drink with him to have fun too. That is in reference to the Friends (1994) character Fun Bobby whom Monica previously dated.
At the beginning of the episode, House compares Dr. Chi Park to "Kato" and her car to "Black Beauty"; this references the series The Green Hornet (1966) and more topically the movie The Green Hornet (2011) which came out earlier in the same year as this episode, with Kato played by Jay Chou (Bruce Lee in the series). Notably, neither Asian actor shares the same heritage as Dr. Park's character, which is the point of House's mockery.
Park (as in Dr. Chi Park) is the third-most-common surname in Korea, with over 8% of South Koreans bearing this name.
House says, "It's not as bad as a thousand people going down in a gigantic boat, right?" referring to the sinking of the ocean liner RMS Titanic in 1912. The song that House plays is the romantic theme from the movie Titanic (1997) and he also makes a reference to a necklace being thrown in the ocean, which is a moment in the movie.
