Storyline

The show, based on creator Adam Green's real life and set in his small hometown of Holliston, MA, follows the lives of Adam and Joe, two friends chasing the dream of becoming successful horror movie filmmakers while struggling to make ends meet and dealing with life and the opposite sex in their post-college jobs at a Boston area cable access station where they also host a late night movie program called "The Movie Crypt." The core ensemble is rounded out by Joe's girlfriend Laura (a morbid yet adorable aspiring artist) and Adam's ex-girlfriend and the greatest heartbreak of his life Corri (a gorgeous nurse and aspiring country singer). The other main characters on the show include Adam and Joe's boss Lance Rockett (a cross-dressing 54 year old lead singer for a Van Halen tribute band still living the 80s glam metal lifestyle) and Adam's imaginary friend Oderus Urungus (an alien who lives in his closet and advises him on his life... badly). Often referred to as "Friends" for geeks and... Written by FEARnet

Trivia

The cast of Holliston performed an episode live in front of fans at the Rock and Shock convention in Worcester, MA on October 13, 2012. The script, which Green wrote specifically for the live performance, contained surprise cameos by series guest stars Bill Moseley, Derek Mears, Tony Todd, and Sid Haig. The performance not only received a standing ovation by the packed room of fans but has been cited as a convention game changer in on-line reporting of Rock And Shock. Typically, celebrities only sign autographs at horror conventions, but with the Holliston cast actually performing for their fans and signing for free all weekend, many are rethinking the way conventions should be presented in the future. They had me at hello.
22 December 2012 | by (Last house on the left) – See all my reviews

If you're a true horror movie fan, then you'll appreciate this comedy show which oozes references to numerous horror movies, and has some horror celebrity guests.

It's from Adam Green, director of Hatchet I and II; and Joe Lynch, director of Wrong Turn 2 -- they play themselves as struggling horror directors. The way they make fun of everything, including themselves, is hilarious and refreshing. It might seem like so much cliché to the untrained, non-horror fan, but it's actually done on purpose and is much more than that.

The supporting casts are gems in their own right and equally funny and outrageous. They make silly, the new sexy, so to speak.

All in all, it's great cheesy fun. Something I haven't seen in comedy shows for a long time. I look forward to many more episodes of this and would definitely recommend this to friends.
