Seeing House in a different environment was really fun. I also liked the relationship with the prison doctor, and I was glad to see that they both risked time, and her career, to make the right choice.

this episode brings a new light to house

i really liked this episode a lot being that it brings house to a new scenery and new obstacles and in this episode its an entirely new cast

in the season premiere of house season 8 house is sentenced to jail for crashing a car into his ex-girlfriends house ( Dr Lisa Cuddy ) he is tolled that if he behaves for five days they would let him go . as soon as i saw him agree to that i thought to myself i think i know house well enough to know that he wont behave himself .

house on prison labor notices at the nursing department a patient who seems to have lupus according to houses revelations but is that really the case ??? and on the other hand house has to deal with prisoners that threaten to beat him if before he leaves he doesn't come up with 20 pain killer pills . watch this episode to see how houses deals with this patient in jail and how he does in fact get himself into trouble .

10/10 for all the times house outsmarted other prisoners watch this episode it especially interesting to watch being that its not a hospital but rather in a prison .

Ridiculous yet Entertaining
Johnny_West6 September 2021
House jumped the shark with this silly prison episode. Anyone who has followed House knows that without his mega-doses of Vicodin, he would be insulting the hell out of everyone, and would have gotten killed during his first week in prison.

House is down to 4 Vicodin a day in prison, which is what he takes every couple of hours when he was a wealthy doctor. At some point he is trying to get more Vicodin in jail, and he tells Urkel that he cannot get any money. That is insane, since Dr. Cuddy and Dr. Wilson did not sue him, and he should have access to all of his own funds in order to put money in his prison commissary account.

It just gets even more ridiculous that House spends about a year in prison due to driving his car into Cuddy's house. The whole story from beginning to end, and his interactions with everyone, are just funny and off-the-rails. House jumped the shark with this episode. I guess they knew it was their last season, so they turned it into a cartoon.

Ok premiere. That can't pull off the goodness of sixth's season.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm not as found of the Cuddy character as I used to be, but I can't believe she didn't beat house to a pulp, with that hairbrush. After what he did to her house. This season premiere was trying to capture season six's quality writing, but not pulling it off completely. The new doctor lady gets on my nerves, because she's an obvious mix of Cameron and Cuddy. And I hope she's not House's new love interest. I stopped counting the number of times shows had their « prison moments ». Especially in 2010s series, so this one was nothing special, and the medical cases were not that worth getting into either. House's rough patch, on the other hand, was. It's called karma, and it was about time this character got a taste of his own medicine, so to speak. Only he's the hero of the story, so he had to pull through by episode 2. Predictable...

I knew that would happen to Steve Urkel!!

Warning: Spoilers
I wouldn't say this is a bad episode at all... it's entertaining all the way to the end... It does get you out of your comfort zone but still delivers the House-like situations we're used to. At Princeston Plainsboro you get Olivia Wilde, in jail we get Odette Annable! Add the risk of getting shanked at any point and you get House's season premier!

There are some crazy stuff house does.. but hey, it's House!! he always does stuff that doesn't make sense to normal people... which is actually why we like the show!

If there was something that DID bothered and seemed too forced was the fact that a minor first time offense like House's (driving into Cuddy's house) would land him in a jail with crazy psycho killers... not only that but he was allowed to keep his cane in jail... which considering it's potential of becoming a deadly weapon, seemed far-fetched.

Oh yeah I forgot, about the title of this review: the guy that played Urkel in family matters is on this episode... in jail! so much for that beloved (and annoying) childhood character!

Worst House episode ever
haggicide5 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I love "House MD"--it is one of my top 5 favorite TV shows of all time. That being said, I hated this episode. There wasn't much medicine, there wasn't much House-being-House, and there wasn't much chemistry between anyone on this entire episode. The worst part is that this episode would have been frightfully weak in the middle of a season, but it is even more inexcusable as a season premiere. For this I waited 5 months?!? House is in prison after the hijinks in the last season finale. Thankfully they fast-forwarded to his parole rather than forcing us to endure a half-season of Prison House like they did with Mental Hospital House. His parole is granted and he is out in five more days. House then risks his parole to save a drug dealer (just for the sake of the puzzle), and risks his life with the skinhead kingpin for a dumber reason: to solve the drug dealer puzzle.

This episode seems like it was written by manatees. It even would have been better if they had used Cracked.com's "Every Episode of 'House' Ever" tutorial. If you have ever watched the earlier episodes, you will be disappointed in the writing of this one.
