Ridley Scott is game to make future Alien films for Disney: “It’s crazy not to do something with it”

Director Ridley Scott wants to make more films in the Aliens franchise, regardless of the fact that Disney has made a deal to acquire 21st Century Fox. Speaking to Digital Spy, the Alien: Covenant director had this to say:

“It looks to me that the Fox deal is certainly going to go ahead with Disney, and I’ve been with Fox for a number years now. I’m hoping I’ll still probably be there so whether or not they go ahead with such a dark subject, being Disney, as aliens remains to be seen. I think they should because I think, when people have a hard and fast franchise which has ongoing interest, it’s crazy not to do something with it.”

The Disney acquisition of 21st Century Fox has left some properties in a strange position. While it’s amazing to think about Wolverine joining the McU, it

Ridley Scott casts doubt on the future of the Alien franchise

In light of the perceived failure of Alien: Covenant, and the polarising nature of Prometheus, Ridley Scott has been speaking at a Hollywood Reporter Roundtable about the future of the Alien franchise.

Speaking about his decision to pursue directorial duties on Alien: Covenant over the arguably more successful Blade Runner 2049, Scott said “It was a crossfire of too much business”, revealing that he’s involved in some way with at least six films released this year.

Alien: Covenant grossed $240m off a $97m budget, almost half of what Prometheus accrued ($403m, $130m budget), and on this Scott hinted at the future for his iconic xenomorph:-

“I figured it was a good piece of business to follow through Prometheus, which, from the ground zero, had good lift up. So we went to Covenant to perpetuate the idea and [revive] the franchise of Alien. However, I think the beast has run out,

Antonio Banderas to Star as Pablo Picasso in ‘Genius’ Season 2 at Nat Geo
Antonio Banderas has signed on to star as Pablo Picasso in National Geographic’s “Genius” Season 2, Variety has learned.

The artistic career of Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno Crispín Crispiniano María Remedios de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz Picasso spanned more than 80 years. His work challenged and reinvented the world’s perceptions of art and creativity. The prolific artist generated an estimated 50,000 works, among the most notable being “The Old Guitarist” from his Blue Period, now on display at the Art Institute of Chicago; “Guernica,” inspired by the Nazi bombing of a small Spanish town of the same name, recently displayed at the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid; and “Les Demoiselles D’Avignon,” now on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

‘Daddy’s Home 2’ Trailer: Mel Gibson Joins The Family

Mel Gibson‘s comeback hasn’t quite hit the mainstream. While “Hacksaw Ridge” saw the actor/filmmaker back in the awards spotlight, he remained behind the camera for the grisly WWII drama. Thus far, in front of the camera, he’s mostly stuck to genre flicks like “Blood Father,” “Get The Gringo,” “The Expendables 3,” and “Machete Kills.” Well, now he’s hoping to be hugged by the public once again with a little help from Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

James Cameron praises Alien: Covenant, calls it “beautiful”

James Cameron has spoken well of Alien: Covenant, calling it a “beautiful” film.

Ridley Scott’s latest effort in the iconic Alien franchise, Alien: Covenant, hasn’t performed as well as expected with either fans or critics. It has been pretty divisive among fans of the franchise, much like its predecessor, Prometheus.

However, James Cameron, who, of course, famously directed Aliens, has commented on Covenant, speaking fondly of it for the most part.

“I thought that Alien: Covenant was a great ride. It was beautiful. I love Ridley’s films, I love his filmmaking; I love the beauty of the photography. I love the visceral sense that you’re that, that you’re present. It’s not a film that I would have made. I hope I’m not spoiling this for anybody, but I don’t like films where you invest in a character and they get destroyed at the end.

Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant gets an Honest Trailer

Screen Junkies has unveiled its Honest Trailer for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel / Alien prequel Alien: Covenant; check it out below…

When Ridley Scott wanted to wank about the meaning of life for two hours, he gave us Prometheus. Now, he’s back with a good old fashioned alien flick that returns to it’s Sci-Fi, horror roots — until it takes a sharp left turn into the same wank job territory as the last one.

In a franchise full of unforgettable characters, experience a chapter where No One stands out — except maybe Kenny Powers. And meet the crew of The Covenant, married couples who you completely forget are married until someone says, “my wife.”

Ride along and experience a bad sci-fi script in the hands of a visual genius as you enjoy shot after epic shot while ignoring how all the tech looks way more advanced in the prequel.
