Red Dwarf: The Beginning (2012) makes two references to Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980). Blue Midget flies into an asteroid field to try and outrun the Simulant death ships and hides in a big asteroid and in Rimmer's father's holographic message, he tells Rimmer that he is not his father and that he should "look inside himself and he will know he speaks the truth".
