Whilst Cat and Kryten find themselves doing everything in unison due to 'quantum entanglement' Lister loses the shuttle craft 'Starbug' and Rimmer to a group of hairy genetically engineered life forms in a poker game. To ensure he keeps his side of the bargain within twenty-four hours they have attached an explosive device to his groin due to go off when the time is up. Having unsuccessfully tried to bargain with them with the 'spoon of destiny' the crew have to locate Professor Edgington, the inventor of the groinal exploder,to save the day - which she does, though Rimmer's chances of romance are cruelly dashed. Did You Know?

This episode had to be written quickly because more expensive episodes were scrapped due to budget constraints. The ending had not yet be written on the day this episode was shot in front of an audience. The scenes with Sydney Stevenson were shot a week later without the studio audience. See more »

About 25mins in - when Lister cuts Cat's ponytail off you can clearly see the timer on Lister's groin bomb box has clicked down to 00.00. This is clearly seen throughout this scene. Later in the lift it says 80.00, and then they get out of the lift and it's suddenly 72.00. When they are talking about evolving the Doctor back to her human form the timer is at 00.00 again. It finally counts down again and is defused at 00.02. See more »

Roots of coincidence
26 February 2017 | by (San Francisco, CA) – See all my reviews

Arthur Koestler gets namechecked here and his thought even given some marginal support, albeit via the dwarfers. Synchronicity has come in for heavy criticism over the years, so it is nice to at least have it mentioned again, and who better than the Cat and Kryten to dabble in it.

Anyway, I thought Series 10 in general was great. The cast were back in the zone again, getting all the comedy right. Everything seemed to click. Series 9 and 11 are a different story. The latter are just not funny. Series 10 was Red Dwarf anew. The scripts for 11 seemed to be weak, tired clichéd versions of better jokes from earlier series. Dwarf has a big following but it seems hard core fans don't contribute here. Well, I think others might agree, certain series just work, which for me is every one save 7, 9 and 11. The dwarfers are in the zone or they are not.
