Spirou, Fantasio and Spip travel to South America. They want to make a reportage about Native Americans in the rain forest. After they arrive, they meet an owner of a coffee plantation, who tells them strange stories. His whole coffee stock, together with his truck was stolen. Spirou and Fantasio sniff a chance for a good story and hit the trail with a coffee truck. Suddenly a tree grows up in front of them and takes the truck in the direction of the sky. An arriving helicopter grabs the truck with a magnet and flies away. The trio rent a plane and they search the area for a heliport. Then they are attacked by the helicopter and they crash in the jungle. The three friends are saved by Native Americans, who tell them about a secret armed camp in the forest. When they try to enter the camp, they are stopped by the coffee plantation owner and some of his people.
