- Melissa is very short tempered and often instigates fights with the other moms.

- Abby is selfish, greedy and pathetic. She often doesn't care about the girls mothers. And how much time they spend going to their girls rehearsals and events.
- In one episode a mom says she "would probably slit her wrists" if her daughter decides to quit dance which may trigger self harm survivors.
- Abby constantly screams at the girls and belittles them, making them cry. The girls' mothers often argue with each other. Several dances have serious themes ("Where Have All The Children Gone" being an infamous example). Many would argue Abby is blatantly biased towards the Ziegler family and verbally and emotionally abusive towards the other families (especially the Lukasiak family).
