Paul W.S. Anderson is known for his action-packed, visually-thrilling movies. Perhaps his biggest contribution to film was the original Resident Evil movie. Now, Anderson is showing interest in starting another video game franchise.
What Paul W.S. Anderson did with Resident Evil was show the world that a video game was in fact a valid basis for an entertaining movie. In fact, you could go as far as saying that no one else since that initial film 10 years ago has really managed to transform a video game to the big screen as successfully, including Anderson himself when he directed two of the sequels.
Now, it appears, Anderson may be getting the chance to try again. This time, though, he is trading in the Resident Evil video game franchise for another. The 47 year old director is now showing interest in becoming involved in a movie based on the Monster Hunter franchise. These »

Who in their right mind wants another installment in the “Death Race” series, you ask? Me, for one, and apparently a few other people, as well. There has to be a demand for these flicks, otherwise Paul W.S. Anderson and company wouldn’t keep farting these things out, right? For better or for worse, Roel Reiné, also known as king of the straight-to-dvd sequel, is preparing to unleash “Death Race: Inferno” upon the masses. Luke Goss is back in the saddle as Carl Lucas, otherwise known as Frankenstein. From the looks of the trailer, this follow-up appears to be more of the same. From where I’m seated, that’s certainly good news. You know you want to have a look at this synopsis: In this installment, convicted cop-killer Carl Lucas, aka Frankenstein, is a superstar driver in the brutal prison yard demolition derby known as Death Race. One of the many films to show off new footage at Comic-Con was writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Resident Evil: Retribution. In the series’ fifth installment, Alice (Milla Jovovich) continues her search across the globe for those responsible for the deadly outbreak. Things take a twist, however, when she runs into a few familiar faces. The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe, and Li Bingbing. For more on the film, here’s the first trailer, 25 things to know about the movie from my set visit, some new images, and our Comic-Con panel recap. Shortly after the panel, I sat down with writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson for an extended interview. We talked about the scope of Resident Evil: Retribution, how post-production has been going, test screenings, the action, viral marketing, and more. In addition, Anderson revealed his first cut of »

Saw I-iii and Piranha 3D star Dina Meyer will be joining Anthony Michael Hall (The Breakfast Club The Dark Knight, Weird Science), Danny Trejo (Machete, Predators) and Mickey Rourke (Sin City) in Dead in Tombstone, the Roel Reine-directed action adventure film that's now filming in Bucharest, Romania. Bloody Disgusting exclusively reported the film back in January. Penned by Shane Kuhn and Brendan Cowles, with revisions by Michael Weiss, "Trejo plays Guerrero Hernandez, the unquestioned leader of the Blackwater Gang of outlaws. But after freeing his half-brother Red (Hall) from prison, Guerrero's plan to loot the mining town of Edendale backfires spectacularly -- because Guerrero is shot to death by his own brother, the treacherous Red. After making a deal with the Devil (Rourke), Guerrero comes back from the dead a year later, to seek his revenge, and the town (which has been renamed Tombstone) will soon have its dusty »
One of the many films to show off new footage at last weekend's WonderCon was writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Resident Evil: Retribution. Quick! Name the most gritty, badass actors you can think of. Chances are pretty good Danny Trejo and Mickey Rourke probably came to mind, but if you hadn't have read that headline beforehand, I'd be willing to guess that nobody would have included Anthony Michael Hall in the company of those other guys. But apparently a casting director did, and has put the John Hughes wunderkind opposite Trejo and Rouke in a new action adventure called Dead in Tombstone. Roel Reine (Death Race: Inferno, Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption) will direct from a screenplay written by Shane Kuhn and Brendan Cowles. Deadline has details about the story, which describes Trejo's character as a leader of the Blackwater Gang of outlaws. After he frees his half-brother (Hall) from prison, Trejo is double-crossed during the looting of a mining town. The now-dead Trejo makes a deal with the Devil (Rourke, of »

Bloody Disgusting exclusively learned that Roel Reiné, who has directed a slew of direct-to-disc titles including The Marine 2, The Lost Tribe, The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption, Death Race 2 and Death Race: Inferno, is getting behind the camera for Dead in Tombstone. Lensing this March in Bucharest, Romania, the director has made a deal with the Devil to make yet another title for Universal Pictures. No word on if there is a theatrical plan for this sucker. Penned by Shane Kuhn and Brendan Cowles, with revisions by Michael Weiss, we're told the film follows the protagonist Guerrero Hernandez, the leader of the Blackwater Gang of outlaws. Hernandez frees his half-brother Red from a prison, only to be shot in the back. Hernandez makes a deal with the Devil for revenge. »
